    Slight update...

    Sold off the Blinder and Beltronics and purchased the LI Dual for the front....

    Grabbed the Pro DB for the rear number-plate.

    Anyone who wants info on what it is and how it works see here;

    http://www.appliedtechnologiesusa.com/

    Essentially a capacitor charged flash unit that sits above the number-plate.

    When the camera (rear facing) flashes to take a photo, the Pro DB detects this and flashes downwards onto the number-plate.

    This will essentially make the plate illegible, have tried it at 0.5m and the results were pretty impressive..

    Would be pretty difficult to make out the plate from 20m away, and having seen evidence from a few cars running them it does appear to work.

    Yest to test it but will be giving it a run when I get back from work next on one of the fixed speed cameras.

    I'll get some install pics tomorrow as well. All installed myself including the relay circuit to mute the stereo if the LI alerts.

    Thoughts or opinions
    ?

    Nice - did you get the ProDB direct from USA, or the distributor here.

    It probably won't affect you too much on the rear, but it was found that lidar from a front facing poliscan or handheld can make the ProDB false prematurely. The guy in this thread below had it false on him a second or two early before he approached a front facing poliscan, and then got flashed and ticketed;

    The local distributor fixed this by applying some IR filtering film over the sensor. That was shown to fix the lidar/IR falsing issue

    This is the one we're waiting on - the Mk II NoPhoto ;

    No one's had a production model to test yet, but there's been several videos showing it reject falses from handheld lidars etc

    I got it from an Australian distributor here in WA, from what they have told me there is only 70 cars including mine in WA that have the PRO DB installed. They haven't had a complaint yet.

    I went back there to verify the install and ensure the LI was programmed correctly, I downloaded the software and enabled the optional parking sensor switch which I have wired up and put in a "safe" place inside the vehicle should I need to prove it operates as such to the fuzz.

    They tested the LI with a Trucam and also tried to set the Pro DB off with it, but it wouldn't flash.

    Jam time is set for 5 seconds and 20 seconds re-boot time.

    The No-photo looks pretty good, a lot more slimline and subtle opposed to the Pro DB. I'll be sure to inquire about the release date in AUS.

    I'll get some pictures up tomorrow and hopefully a video or 2

    Cheers

    Nice - sounds like they definitely got the initial falsing issue sorted now then

    Thanks

    I'm actually a little disappointed with the LI TBH.

    Having a look at the ALP and even considering the Blinder HP-905, the LI seems rather "cheap" the control unit is just that, with no concealed display unit like the ALP.

    Even the Blinder had a better control unit that actually looked half decent.

    Although I guess appearance can be overlooked for an item that does offer protection against all LIDAR.

    I didn't manage to get any footage last week as there weren't many cameras around my area or if there were I didn't have my camera with me (bit daft)

    Will endeavor to get one this week.
