Any chance to toggle between defense and detection mode in that next update?

Why would you need this? Another new feature coming would be a choice of parking mode or detection mode after the LID setting runs out. So after your LID timer of 4 seconds or so expires you can now go into detection mode automatically for 60 seconds until it returns back to defense mode.
