How to use parking sensor feature

    Two questions about the ALPs.

When defense mode is activated/loaded, is there any way to temporarily change to parking sensors? If I turn the system off and on, can I actually use the parking sensor function during the 1st minute before it changes to defense mode?

I'm curious 1) to see if I can actually use these sensors as a guide or parking and 2) how I could realistically change to parking sensor mode if I did get stopped by a LEO.

The ALP is really a full fledged parking sensor system and parking sensors work 100% of the time.

To go from Defense to Parking only there are many different methods:

    1. Use different USB Sticks with different settings files on them.
    2. Use the GPS antenna and when travelling below a set speed the system will automatically become parking only
    3. Set USB Security Key and once you remove the key from the USB Port the system will immediately go into parking mode
    4. Wait for the next firmware update and press the menu key one short press to toggle between defense and parking.

Any chance to toggle between defense and detection mode in that next update?

Hi bairice, while we are waiting for the feature that Tom/BRD describes in his post, and in addition to the option of reconfiguring your system from Parking & L. Interference Defense (PDC & LID), to a parking sensor only mode (when desired due to an "interview" by a LEO) by inserting a USB Flash Drive loaded with the Parking Detection Only mode (PDC) into the system's USB port, please remember that while the system is in the PDC & DLI mode, or in the PDC & LID mode, the parking sensors are ALWAYS active, and provide parking (distance) assistance. I verified this on my car, this past week, by walking in front of, and behind, my car, with the PDC & LID mode active. When I did, the LED light blinked red , the Control Box light came on steady red, and there was a beeping tone that increased the closer I came to each sensor. Hope this helps.

Why would you need this? Another new feature coming would be a choice of parking mode or detection mode after the LID setting runs out. So after your LID timer of 4 seconds or so expires you can now go into detection mode automatically for 60 seconds until it returns back to defense mode.
