View Full Version : ALP Connect suggestion

Im still of the opinion, that there needs to be a stealth setting or similar on the app.
By this I mean, if I get pulled up by the cops and they ask me what the sensors are for and also ask me to demonstrate, I can easily show them. It's a bit hard to explain the screen which says detect mode and a highway button option, and if I'm correct, if they aim the lidar at the car it will start alerting.
So some type of overriding function with a separate display that can be easily accessed by you and not the cops if they probe your phone.
I hope this makes sense.
Am I right in my thinking or do I see it wrong?:frusty:

Everyone is free to voice their own opinions and we consider all of the suggestions made. There is another small update to ALP Connect coming in the next week or so but we will discuss some stealth options in the future.
For now just keep a parking only USB stick handy and if pulled over pop the parking only USB in and in parking mode it will not alert to laser at all.

I imagine that eventually, there will be different profiles available to be selected via the app. The option to have it default to a parking only profile on startup would be a trivial matter.

It would be nice to see everything except the car disappear, with no AL serial number and no AL logo and No Radar symbol.
An advanced privacy parking mode, cause every cop has a phone with Google on it and they are 1 step away from working out what it is.

Well an Android app would be a great start.

Nah no need. IPhone 6 is coming.
Everyone is going to jump ship again after watching keynote.
Actually, can we have an apple watch app to integrate into alp?
Using haptic to let us know when we have alerts and to tap to jtk :)

It'll be a cold day in hell before I buy an apple device.

It would be cool once the apple watch comes out, for it to be an extension of the ALP Connect app:
* Maybe your speed could be displayed on the face.
* Perhaps it could vibrate and flash when being targeted.
* A tap to the face would kill the jammers. This would be nice when running the ALP app in the background on your phone.
Wishful thinking for now, but would be cool to at least think about. :D

Whoa... That'd be amazing actually!

why dont ALP just do a dedicated display of there own to do all that they want with, instead of apps and apple and googles phones, and plug it in via the led socket

If you look at the future expansions they will eventually do one. The ALP CPU already has a G Port for a future graphics display but there are other things with higher priority that need to get completed first.

Ask em to move it up the priority list, if it's on the drawing board :friendly_wink:

I had a thought the other day about something that would make ALPconnect very unique.
After my dash cam stuffed up I thought this might be helpful
Incorporate A DashCam mode.
Turns your phone into a dashcam with all the alerts time stamped onto the film aswell as speed. And have a quick share mode straight to youtube.
This might work well on the android phones as some are recording in 4K to record your encounters with a real time HUD of the ALPconnect inaction

I believe on Android the video camera can be specified as an "intent" thereby utilizing the built in camera app. This would help with compatibility issues. I believe not 100% sure that if you build your own camera app within the application then the camera is then required to operate the app. I realize most phones have cameras but just a consideration as one day what if there was a dedicated device that runs Android. Not saying there is, but from ALs perspective they have to consider these things. Would be a neat addition if they can make it work.

What else remains to be done? Things I can think of:
1. Protection, protection, protection! (Pre-empts everything else)
2. Hi-Fi Control Set
3. Android version of ALP Connect

We will probably never be satisfied but we are always looking at improvements and have many things planned though next year.

#1 says it all. If it can't protect then what's it worth.

is there any way to automatically go straight back to defense mode after a hit, just noticed yesterday that u seem to cover a lot of ground before defense comes back on, have also have had occasions where i have been targeted in school zones and then just as you enter the reg speed limit bang there they are again but set well back off the road and if you dont spot em ur dead

In the US its easy... Its called LID = Unlimited. In Australia you are limited to LID=9 so there is no easy way to hop back into defense. You can turn it off and back on and if you set "Skip First Warmup" you will go right back into defense.

Come up with a few ideas for ALPconnect
-Defence mode count down timer. Once your hit it starts counting down your LID time on the screen. Possibly could be done with a ring that fades around the ALP car.
-A setting that enables full screen kill on laser hit. Instead of having to try tap the car, just tap anywhere on the screen. And visual text that confirms the JTK, it could even say JTK

As of the current scheduled release tapping anywhere on the top of the screen will kill it. The car will immediately change color letting you know you successfully killed it and the text changes from Defense Mode to Receive Only.

It would be nice to have your custom loads stored in the control unit itself so you don't need to keep loading thru USB, and All anyone needs to do is go to a page on the ALP connect and pick the load you want to run Sounds like a great thing to have but not sure it can be done at this time .

We are discussing different ways to give everyone everything they want. Its not possible to satisfy everyone's suggestions but we are working on many of them.

WANTS is the keyword here. You have given us everything we NEED. That is pretty much saying more than the competition. Anything else is icing on the cake. Thank you BRD

Thanks... Once we come out with an optional display (No ETA on this project) we will have a lot more real estate to work with to give additional options.

Do you have a clue about what the dimensions of the display will be? I'm already thinking about where I would mount the thing...lol.

No sorry but they are looking at several different ways of doing the remote display. Lots of different things being tossed around from simple OLED displays to full touch screen displays but other projects are being finished before we can get to it. This project would be several months out since there are lots of other more important things on the plate. (All good stuff coming next year)
