    I need some help

I have a Bel STir Plus as well as an ALP laser interceptor. I hadn't updated the firmware in a while, although I had been getting notices of various updates being available. I finally decided to do it today, and I may have created a mess. Any assistance will be appreciated.

I downloaded the firmware from the ALP firmware site, and it showed up on my thumb drive with the correct name and all. I took it to the car, plugged it into the usb port, and turned on the ALP. I got a bunch of flashing lights, red, yellow and so forth, and then it settled down to a blue light, flashing on and off. The thumb drive was lit, indicating that something was happening, but it went on for a very long time. The update, according to the site should have occurred in a minute, and now it has been running for half and hour. I don't know whether I have done something wrong or what. Can anyone help?

The flashing of different colors was the system reading, installing and verifying the update. The blinking blue afterwards means you are back in normal defense mode and the system is working normally.

Before looking at an Escort Radar Detector you should really check out Uniden Detectors.. Uniden R1 & R3 are the best performing radar detectors for the money.

Thanks for the information. I thought I broken the thing. Now how do I get it back to normal operation. Normally when I turn the car on, the light comes on green for a moment, and then turns solid blue, indicating that the defense is on. I'm still getting the blinking blue light. Sorry to be so inept with this and I appreciate the help.

That is normal operation. If you have not updated in a while the settings would get default back to original settings. You can load a new settings file and customize the LED to steady instead of blinking if that is what you prefer.

thanks, I appreciate the help. I figured that when I updated the firmware I somehow changed the detector light from a solid blue to a blinking blue. Went in and changed it back. Whew! Thought I was on my way back to the installer.
