    Hello From Maryland

I got a ticket about a month ago in Virginia, first one in 20 years and got pissed--my brand new Escort never even went off so I searched around and found AL Priority and put one in my car. I had it professionally installed in Virginia and they did a great job.

Is there a place to view what the alerts you get mean.

I took a trip today to Ocean City today and the thing went off 3 different places siron, siron Laser Pro 3 and that was it. Cops were shooting about a half mile ahead on all instances.

I was trying to figure what that means. Did it sniff out laser or was I hit? There was no noise after that.

I am sure there is somewhere in the forum that helps newbies with this but could not find it.

I wanted to turn around and do it again.. Has anyone else had that same feeling?

Thinking of getting another one for my other car.

Thanks that is what I was looking for. I read through and did not see the link. Is there a way to know if you have been hit and they detected your speed or if you jammed them? I am pretty sure I got hit at least two of the 3 times yesterday or which I should have jammed correct? Or do we not jam them all? I have 3 sensors in the front professionally installed.

When the Leo shoots you do they stay on you if you Jam them or do they move to the car around you?

You should only be jamming them long enough to slow down and give them a reading. This is why LID Time is set at 4 seconds by default so that it will only jam for 4 seconds before it expires and gives them a reading so it's not obvious that you are jamming them.

Ok, they did set it to 4 seconds and the only sounds I heard was the siren twice and pl3 twice. Being a newbie does that automatically mean I am jamming them when that goes off? Thanks for your response.

System immediately Jams until the 4 second timer expires. If they set it to DLI & Warm Up it will continue to alert you after the timer expires until they stop shooting and then go to the 60 second warmup period before the system comes back online.

You were receiving scatter signals reflected from the cars ahead the LEO was likely targeting.Normal/Honest Leo's only target you from 1st observing you speeding (or bad driving) & then use Radar or Lidar to confirm if it's excessive. With Lidar use, they generally are limited (by established Case Law) to 1,000ft or less.

I wanted to turn around and do it again.. Has anyone else had that same feeling? Don't do this, you never want to raise the suspicions of the Officer. Just be relieved you were lucky to have avoided getting stopped & receiving a Citation.

Getting a lot of Pro Laser 3 hits in Maryland. I got hit yesterday in Easton Md by a town Cop not more than 300 feet or at least I thought I did-- it was either me or the car in front of me. Just to verify there is no difference in alarm if he is hitting a car around me or my car correct?

This is becoming a bit of a hobby in a way. I enjoy learning about radar and laser and the leo's use them.

Generally speaking, whether directly targeted or getting some scattered signal (via "refraction" off car ahead of you) the alarm will be the same.
However, there are settings (eg: "PRO" mode) the AL-P can be set to operate that will result in giving a different alarm sound(when directly targeted) should you choose that option. I would wait till you become much more experienced w/ normal use before experimenting w/ other selections.

Focus on your "JTK" skills first till you've mastered it into a 3-4sec. encounter !
