    Hello From Northern Illinois!

Hi, new member here. Looking to learn more about todays technology and how I can better my defenses I currently have a Redline which I'm about to hardwire in my car. I also have a Bel RX65 that sits in my work truck.

Reading the info on the ALP system looks great. However, I have never encountered laser here in N IL. Is there a map/list of which agencies use them?

    Thanks!

Hi & Welcome to the Forum.
IL State Police have been reported using LTI "UltraLytes", "TruSpeeds", "Stalker LR" & "ProLaser III". Locals seem to prefer Kustom Signals "ProLaserIII".

What's the "FCC ID" on the bottom of your RX-65 RD ?

Welcome to the forum. You can't go wrong with a Redline/ALP combination

Before looking at an Escort Radar Detector you should really check out Uniden Detectors.. Uniden R1 & R3 are the best performing radar detectors for the money.

Really? All these years and I don't believe I've encountered one laser in the area. As for my ID, it's QKLEM3

I've driven all those highways and never seem to have encountered one. If so, the ALP looks to be in my future

Maybe you just drive within their threshold and just never got a ticket. Its rare for a detector to even alert to a laser hit unless you are at a great distance when the beam is wide enough. At 500ft the average width is around 18" so if aiming at your license plate and your detector is on the dash you would most likely never know because the detector cant even see it.

from what I have seen on the tollways they don't bother you below 80, 80+ and they will ticket you. I have also noticed that they mostly target the left lane especially when they sit in the turn around or the left shoulder.

My Focus ST doesn't have a front plate. I believe my headlights are plastic. My other vehicles do have front plates on tho.

I drive 80+ regularly. I also drive about 25k a year in the area. It's why I'm so surprised. I know the area pretty well and tend to slow down at trap areas. I do see cops in the median, I slow down and tend to sit in the middle lane and only use the left lane to pass. I'm going to have to look at the ALP sooner than later!
