Do all three sensors have to be perfectly in line then?- that's preferred, but CM one slat lower should be ok.
Can I place the two on the outer edges as you suggest in the middle row and then place the center head below in the bottom row of the top grill area directly under the Ford logo? (So the center head will sit a few cm below the two mounted in the middle section of the grill?

Yeah, put the 2 on the "underside" of the FORD emblem slat & at the extreme edges of grill on each side. Put the CM Sensor on the "underside" of the bottom slat below the emblem.

Insure the Sensors are "bubble" level & pointed straight ahead...do not "parallel" the curve of the body !
