Starting on Firmware 5.1.3 (Releasing shortly) BT module users will now have the capability to update to the latest firmware using the ALP Connect App running on an Android or Apple smartphone which has internet access. To support this feature the BT Chipset needed to be updated and some earlier BT modules will not support this feature.
After the new 5.1.3 Firmware & Matching ALP Connect updates are available you will now see a Firmware Update button in the settings screen of ALP Connect:
When you click the Firmware Update button the system will tell you if your equipment supports this feature:
If you receive the above message your BT Module does not support firmware updating.
All BT modules purchased in 2015 should support this feature but older ones will not have the capability.
If you have a supporting BT module you will receive the following Terms & Conditions Message:
Once you read the Terms and hit the Agree Button you will get a Captcha math problem just like what occurs on the regular ALP Update website:
Once you answer the Math question and hit the OK button the download and transfer will begin and you will see a status bar that will show the progress from 0 to 100%.
This process will take around 10 minutes to complete but during this process the ALP System will still run and operate 100% normal. You will still have defense mode and the system will work normally so you do not have to sit there and wait. Once the download and transfer is complete you will see the Firmware Updating Icon and status bar.
