So, you were shot, you slowed, your ALP stopped jamming after 3 seconds but you didn't see the officer until you reached a driveway and he came out then? Sounds to me like you speeded up after the initial shot, and he shot you again while the ALP was still in warm-up (parking) mode so it didn't alert.
It also sounds to me like the initial shot was at a long distance. Maybe your ALP picked up scatter when someone in front of you was shot and then went into parking mode and then you were targeted next while the ALP was still in warm-up?
A good rule of thumb is, if you get an alert and you slow and kill, don't speed up until you know you're past the threat. The ALP is so sensitive that it could pick up scatter before you're the target, so if you don't see the cop and you speed up, you could be next, and you'll be defenseless at that point.
