2013 Subaru WRX STI: 3rd Sensor Placement up front?

    Hi folks,

Currently waiting for extension cables to get 2 rears installed. Pondering ordering a 5th for up front.

Question is: Where do I place it?

See attached photo. I've got two sensors tucked in the corner of the grille (red circles).

I have an offset license plate. Should I place a 3rd front sensor on top (circle "a") or the bottom (circle "b") of that plate? This is assuming my front plate is a target.

Or, mount it centered ("c" through "f")?

    A few thoughts:

    1) I know I could run without a front plate. I just choose to.
    2) I like the offset plate: The center mounting location screw holes are pretty awful and wobbly.
    3) I'm only guessing LEOs target the front plate; that's why I circled "a" and "b".

Oooh nice! So the offset plate is no big deal as a "target"?

Off topic: Is "SLO" as in... Cal Poly? (I was paroled from there in the early 90's.)

Your grimmspeed plate relocator shouldn't be an issue but testing the setup after install is best. SLO is part of my plate. My plate is SLO STI.

Sweet googly moogly! What a car!

I was thinking directly below the emblem (position "C"). A little easier for me to hide the cabling.

    Thanks SLO!

As to not hijack this thread. We should post this in my thread. But to answer your questions. No I havent taken to the strip. Yet. Also my numbers are Mustang Dyno numbers (lowest reading dynos) on a dyno jet would be over 700awhp. There are more than a few STI's making
550-625 Mustang dyno awhp running 9.7's - mid 10's. Not sure what my car will do but I will see one day.

Update: I've got a Quint system in place now.

Third sensor up front in position "C" (see first photo) right under the emblem.

Front sensors are set as 1-2-3 as suggested.

I bought a Stalker lidar unit off another member on this forum. Finally got around to stationary testing. I stood back as far as I could in my building's garage- about 70 feet.

The Stalker will read E04 (jamming signal detected) often enough, especially when pointed directly at the sensors. But sometimes, especially if I aim at the bumpers under the headlights or the offset license plate, the Stalker can get a distance reading. (No E04. And, no speed reading, of course, because I'm standing still)

I'm assuming this is not good....? I'm slightly concerned. I figure if the Stalker can calculate distance, it can get speed (if the car is moving).

At LEAST no matter where I aim, the ALP sounds of an alert.

Stationary testing means nothing. It requires more pulses to get a speed reading than a distance reading. Drive her down the road and if you have it installed right you will get nothing!
