Information on the next update coming in the next few days....

If you have checked the ALP Setup Website - http://www.alpupdate.com you might have noticed some changes and that have been done in preparation for the next update being released shortly.

What is new on the setup page:

    1. If you are utilizing the Radar Integration you can now set separate volume levels for your Radar Threats and your Laser Threats

Size: 41.8 KB

    2. You may define how your MENU button on your Control Set will behave if you short-press it. By default it will switch on the Fog lights in case you have special fog-light sensors. If you select Force PDC Only, your MENU button will when you short press it switch you to Parking only mode. You can recognize you are in parking only mode if LED is blinking green in normal mode, when no obstacle or interference is being detected.

    3. After Laser interference Defense has been activated for defined LID time, system will normally go into a Warm up for 60 seconds time. If “DLI & Warm up” is chosen then the system will now continue to alert as long as the detected source is still present, and when no longer present it will switch to 60 seconds warm up. This will allow everyone who is targeted and kills the system before the Gun ID to allow the ALP to immediately briefly go into detection mode so that the Gun ID's are played before going into the 60 second warm up mode.

    4. In the Radar Integration Option you will now see a Valentine 1 Option. We are in the beginning stages of adding Valentine 1 integration and this will progress deeper if we have enough users that will utilize the integration. At the current time this integration will work just like the Beltronics Sti-R Plus integration.

If you click on the Valentine 1 Option you will see the following options:

To keep it familiar at this early stage AL kept with the same familiar Band Segments that Escort uses but they are not true sweeps at this time. They will only have the ALP ignore alerts that are not in the segments selected. At this point unless we get more users who will utilize this integration we will not provide true custom sweeps and have the ALP program those sweeps to the V1. If you want custom sweeps you will need to have your V1 swept directly using V1's app or YaV1 and then connect the V1 to the ALP RG Module.

Please also note that after testing with integration using direct ESP with the original RG Module there had to be changes made to the RG Module to allow it to communicate freely with the V1 via ESP. There is a new RG Module V2 which will be available most likely next week for anyone that wants to utilize the V1 integration.

Before looking at an Escort Radar Detector you should really check out Uniden Detectors.. Uniden R1 & R3 are the best performing radar detectors for the money.

Wow, the Menu Button Short Press Function is useful! Although, I will still carry my second USB stick because if an officer pushes the button, I don't want it to say "Interference Defense: Active". Yes, I know that I'm always supposed to refuse permission to search, but just don't want to risk anything if I don't have to.

Add the GPS antenna and unit will not go into defense unless you are moving over a pre-set speed.

The short press function is to allow a KBJ (kill before jam) if you see the cop before being shot. If you're pulled over its still a good idea to use a USB to switch to park only mode if jammers are illegal where you are.

A short press option for DLI would be nice to have too, so you can KBJ and still detect and ID the shot. Maybe in the next update...

Yeah, I wouldn't want to kill to parking mode if I think I'm going to be shot. I'd want to go to detect only mode so I know if I am being targeted.

What would be useful is something like LID -> DLI -> Parking Only -> LID where each -> indicates a single short press.

The way it has always been if targeted and the LID timer expired it pushed you into parking mode for 60 seconds. Now instead of going into parking it will switch over to detection mode temporarily so that you can hear the remainder of the alert and once cleared goes and does its normal 60 second recycle.

I'm referring to the "menu button short press" option though, not the "after LID timeout" option. I already run unlimited LID time so my ALP already stays in DLI after I hit the JTK button until I stop getting shot. radargeek was referring to a KBJ scenario...in that case, I would want it to switch to DLI mode instead of parking so I at least know whether I got hit or not.

    May I assume:
    3. If "None" is selected either On/Off or Menu buttons will still halt "LID" immediately (when targeted) for a JTK ?

During an alert no matter what option you choose it will kill the defense. When the system is idol a quick press with either turn the fog lights on or off or turn parking mode on or off based on this setting. It you choose none a short press will do nothing but it would still have no effect on its normal use during an alert.
