Trying to start ALP for first time....

I recently had a local shop install my ALP unit. Upon receiving the car and trying to follow the "first-start" steps posted on this forum, I noticed that no LED's are turning on. I honestly do not even think the unit is powering on. I have check all the connections into the control box and everything looks fine. Does anyone have any idea what it might be? A faulty power source connection on the other end possibly?

After talking with my installer again, they said that they double checked the power/ground and it should all be working just fine. Is it possible that I received a defective control box?

Being that they are tested before boxed its highly unlikely that you received a unit that does nothing. The unit when installed will power up even if you did not install anything on it and work as parking sensors out of the box. If there is absolutely nothing happening when you turn it on then it seems like there is no power going to the unit.

Doubt it. If you can get to the CPU make sure they connected the controller to the unit... Look for a connection to the "C" port and make sure they connected your heads only in the F1, F2 & F3 (Front Heads) and R1-R2 (Rear Heads). Follow the Red +12V wire and see that its connected to a switched power circuit in the fuse box and check the Black Ground wire to make sure its grounded to the chasis of the vehicle. You can get a cheap test light at your local auto parts store to test the black & red wire for working power.

If possible, take it back to the installer and have them fix it. You paid them for the install, they should make sure it works before they give the car back to you.

Using the ground for your V1 should not be the issue. I use the same ground for 3 devices with no issues.

Well I checked with a multimeter at the connector to the control box and it is getting a reading 12.3-12.4v at all times. Additionally, everything is connected to the right ports. I also tried the box without the jammer heads connected, but that did not make any difference either. Neither my installer nor I understand why this is happening.

Send us back the CPU for inspection and we will see what happened to it. The only time we had a CPU not start was when the system was installed improperly and a dealer ran the sensor wires across some sharp sheet metal which cut into the sensor wire and grounded out the CPU. We ended up sending the customer another CPU only for them to burn that one too until they inspected the wiring and found the issue.
