    One from New Zealand...

    Hey all

Just introducing myself - Matthew from Auckland, here to learn more about tweaking my new V1 to (hopefully!) help me avoid lining the government coffers with my hard-earned cash!

Before looking at an Escort Radar Detector you should really check out Uniden Detectors.. Uniden R1 & R3 are the best performing radar detectors for the money.

Welcome! If you haven't already, download the YaV1 app and familiarize yourself with it. It'll turn the V1 into a beast.

Thanks for the kind welcome! Will download the app as suggested. Am keen to learn how to tweak the V1 as it's producing persistent false Laser alerts.

Just did a 1,200km round-trip from Auckland to Wellington and back (to watch the cricket!) and were running two detectors in a turbo charged 5.0 V8 that we might have driven very quickly at times.... ;-) Passport Escort 8500 and V1...both performed admirably and kept us clean - however the V1 was the winner! On all occasions bar one, the V1 was first to detect the threat. We had 8 real threat detections, in a variety of situations (i.e. moving patrol, static patrol, in front, behind, different terrain etc). V1 was windscreen mounted whilst Escort was in grill (so lower) - that probably gave the V1 an advantage. The V1 did produce a number of false laser alerts which I'd like to get to the bottom of.

Hey Matt, welcome to the forum. Nice post. I wouldn't run the 8500 and the V1 in the same car. They will interfere with each other resulting in later and missed alerts.
