ALP HiFi/ BlueTooth/ vs default controller question

I couldn't find a FAQ on this and am confused on the various options.

If you buy the standard ALP system, does it still connect to a speaker for alerts?

if you buy the bluetooth add-on, and don't have a phone connected, does the system still function? Can alerts also go through a speaker in the car/ and does the standard controller still work).

If you buy the hifi system, you can't use the bluetooth module? (is that so?)

    Thanks

Standard Controller has a built in speaker in the controller which gives you different tones.
HiFi Controller is a different controller (Looks similiar) but has a wire that comes out of it that attaches to external speaker. (All Alerts and menu's will have voices)
BT Module - Replaces the Standard or HiFi Controller and you essentially use your Apple or Android Smartphone to control your ALP. You get voices though the App and if your phone supports it you can pass the BT connection to your vehicle so alerts come from the vehicle.

At this time since all controllers connect to the same controller port only one option can be used. Some people use a manual switch box and switch between 2 options.

    Thanks.

With the bluetooth controller, if you don't have your phone are you still jamming (even if you don't get alerts)

Or is the correct approach to put in the manual switch and turn back on the internal controller. For the manual switch; is there one that can be purchased and cleanly integrated into the car (e.g., a nice looking toggle button)

If you use BT and have no phone there is no way to turn it on. I use BT and I always have my phone with me, I dont leave home without it but if you might not have your phone all the time get the $3 box and switch to the controller if you think you might find yourself in that situation.

The external switch is not pretty but it works.... http://radarandlaserforum.com/showth...highlight=temp

If the app is installed, can it automatically turn on the jammer when you enter the car or do you need to run the physical app every time you get in the car?

Are there any plans for an upgraded bluetooth module with a pass-through for the standard controller?

Trying to keep this simple for my wife.

If you leave the app running it will automatically connect and disconnect. I cant discuss future products but its something we are looking into. If you do not want to use BT full time or use the switch I would suggest the HiFi Option at this point for you.

    Thanks.

I ordered one of the switches. I am curious if I can take it apart and replace the push-buttons with a single nice round toggle switch that can be integrated into the car (I have a feeling it won't work - but for a couple dollars not a big deal).

Assuming I am going to set-up the system and forget about it (only connect to update firmware), why would I need the hifi module? Without the hifi module, do I still have the ability to turn the unit on/off (and/ or temporally pause jamming)? As long as the system jams, notifies me, and I can kill it, I am happy :-). What do people use the HIFI for?

I would then wait and "hope" a future update to the bluetooth module allows both to operate at the same time.

I will be also adding an STIR+ system but I am adding the full system (so I can get GPS lock-outs). I assume that the STIR will need to be completely independent (I can't integrate the two) or would the HIFI add-on help (if I can centralize to one speaker)

HiFi will only add voice alerts and give you easy menu options to make making changes easier. If you dont care about the Gun ID's then just get the standard controller. If getting the Full Sti-R Plus it would operate completely independent and have no effect on the ALP.
