I did not have to cut anything other than the light fixture in front and I used a dremmel tool for that. I took the lens covers off the overhead light and then removed the light fixture 2 screws. pulled it down and unplugged it. The head liner already is shaped in front of the RVM so I inserted the STI R antenna and then took the light fixture and figured how much had to be removed for the back of the antenna to fit. Set the mounting bracket on the unit not tight drilled holes in the roof support and mounted then leveled the unit and tightened it up. I noticed that the unit when placed caused a slight gap on either side so I then took a couple pieces of foam cut them in a long wedge made sure they closed the visual gap then bought a piece of black felt(WalMart $2.00) and glued it to the face of the foam and put them on both sides of the antenna so visually it looked factory. Ran the antenna lead down the door pillar and hooked up to the fuse box and ground. I did change the amperage on the fuse in the fuse box to 20 amp to avoid any electrical interference but left the in-line fuse as is for the unit. PM me so I can help. I also can give you a simple switch idea for your daytime driving lights. I don't know if the headliners are the same also the little wrap around the head is grey weather stripping then colored with magic marker. I also used a piece of felt above the unit to block visual and it reduced laser falsing.

Whenever you move it, flip the receiver. The way you have it now is upside down.

Thanks Salty, going to point that out and how do you have that stabilized? If you could flip it and move it one slot up on the grill it might save a full pull. It should help it a bunch make sure it's firm and level. If you want to go the other way I'm here to help.
