Why not utilize the mute wire to mute your stereo during an alert?

Because I have a factory stereo that does not have that function. At least not to my knowledge.

Well I just got hit today with TrueSpeed and while I did notice the beeping, I wish it were louder so I am definitely going to have to get one of these. Just have to figure out where to put it lol.

Where did you put the rest of the components? Where is your control set now, I assume within reach of the wheel? There's room under the dash on drivers side.

Perfect! The control set is mounted with Velcro to the dash right next to the climate control to the left and the box is under the passenger dash but it's getting tight in there with all the wires I have running to it and bundled up.

Yeah I have a pretty similar setup, box is up above the glovebox and ran the wire to the control set under/behind the shifter/climate control and it's stuck to the lower dash to the right of the steering column. I'm guessing it should be easy to zip tie and or 3m tape the speaker up under there somewhere.

Zip ties are my best friend, I'm sure something can be rigged up with them.

Where does everyone recommend mounting the speaker? Only place I have in my car currently is near where the ALP CPU is in the open area behind the dash, above the gas pedals, and below/behind the steering wheel. Not sure if I'll be able to hear it very well down there though.

My car looks very similar to this inside: http://gtcarlot.com/data/Toyota/Coro...-66470523.html
ALP control set is currently mounted on the dash, to the right of the steering wheel (just above where the cruise control is in the picture). One big difference is that there isn't a large compartment below the radio because I have a CD player in that space, so mounting there isn't an option.

Only having the speaker in hand will ultimately tell, but the belscort speaker are pretty loud so I'm thinking I'll mount mine under the dash on the drivers side pointed at the floor, I'm thinking that should be loud enough.

Yeah a lot of it comes down to what's available in your vehicle. I'm planning on doing something similar.
