Cop was sitting in that paved area off to the right: https://www.google.com/maps/@37.2815...ji0tvoHevw!2e0
He was running rear-facing radar. It was interesting how much the terrain (hills/buildings off to the right, combined with the curve in the road) affects the range of the STi-R+. I got only about 10 seconds' warning before the cop could have had my speed.
The CHP officer was on the phone and staring at some sort of display (probably the radar unit) in his cruiser. Not sure why he was running radar, because there was so much traffic it would be hard to tell who's going what speed, unless there was a car coming around the bend (just behind this area, turn the view the other way) at around 90 mph when everyone else was going 70. Is radar really a useful tool in commute traffic with 4 lanes of freeway?
