    ALP BT or Wired Control

For those that have an ALP with the BT module, do you use the BT module for Alerts or have you reverted back to the wired control? Trying to decide if I should pickup the BT module or not. I'm hesitant on the BT module for the following reasons:
    1. What if I don't have my phone, will the ALP continue to work? Will I be notified?
    2. Bluetooth connection issues or delay, is there a risk with not being notified, or notified late potentially causing an issue?
    3. What is the user experience if I have the ALP app running in the background with Waze, Escort Live, or some other app in the foreground?
    4. What if the phone display is turned off? Does the alert still fire and I get notified?

I believe all of those concerns are not an issue using the wired controller.

    1. No, If you do not have your phone the ALP will not turn on.
    2. Bluetooth signal is very strong and I can walk over 30FT from the car before the signal gets weak and gets disconnected. ALP Connect has a built in signal checker so you can verify how strong your signal is. There are no delays with using it.
    3. ALP Connect will run in the background just fine and I use Waze from time to time with it running in the background and there is no issue. Only issue is if you want to manually JTK, If you are not in the app, a notice will come up and you will have to hit the notice to switch to the app to Kill the jammer.
    4. Phone display being off is not an issue as long as the phone is still on. It will wake when you get an alert but if you have a passcode or slider on your phone you will have to unlock the phone to get back to the app.

There is a cheap $4 switch you can get on Ebay and switch back and forth if you do not have your phone. Prior discussion and link and videos are here:

I had the same concerns and the switch mentioned above is in the mail. Critical if/when you forget your device.

I believe I may have told you that the unit will power up without an active BT connection. I was wrong, sorry. The switch comes in very handy and will be testing with it shortly.

I run ALP,waze,Escort live and pandora all at the same time and never have any problems, they all run just fine, I have a 5s 32 gig as well..
If you want to run the ALP as a (stand alone) then just get the switch and use it to switch back and forth as needed..
I do plan on getting the HiFi when if comes out so i will not be using the control pad.. i will have either the HiFi or the Connect and never plan to use the little pad control ever again

I picked up and iPod touch that never leaves the car to run only WAZE and ALP Connect. I have it tethered to a MiFi card for internet access.

My phone is constantly flooded with business emails, txts, and calls -- that running CMs off my phone is nearly impossible.
