Sometimes, figuring out the unknown is half the fun! Me, I hear you about making sure it's perfect - it drives my wife nuts when I spend more time trying to get my install right than doing housework! :P

the only thing is the driver side sensor is picking up no motion. I cN put my hand over it Nd nothing. passenger side does alert when I wLk in front of it. I am concerned that my drivers side sensor is dead or something.

Stomach virus seems to be everywhere

Do me a favor and create a basic default settings setup file... Just set your LID and save the file.
If that does not work do a Manual Sensor check (Page 12 in your manual) to confirm the connections were made correctly.

Before looking at an Escort Radar Detector you should really check out Uniden Detectors.. Uniden R1 & R3 are the best performing radar detectors for the money.

Well I finally went out and tried switching the sensor ports it did the same thing, beeping from one side, but not from the other. I have checked all connections made sure they are plugged in and locked, and did everything. I don't get it.

I did what you said BRD also and did the default setup. The ALP doesn't even appear to be updating settings now. Something is strange. Not sure what else to do next.

Did you run the sensor check to see if it recognizes 2 sensors are connected?
