    This was the biggest thing to me was just having to learn something new after I just finally learned the INs and Outs of the LIs, but I still feel confident I made the right move switching.

    Any chance my STIR Plus might perform better with the ALP being used as the "brain" since it is probably actually more high tech than the original Stir plus brain?

    I did not think it would make any difference but I just was curious about that.
    On one of my cars, I replaced my LIs with an ALP with radar integration a little more than a week ago. I kept my STiR+ head in the same location, I didn't touch it at all. I have noticed that I am getting alerts to my known falses a few seconds earlier than before. If you are a fan of GPS lockouts and need the red light camera database then I don't recommend the radar integration. If you don't use then get the radar integration. I am looking forward to the HIFI module. I think that with the radar integration will put the ALP over the top.

    One concern I have is the parking aid going to scream at me if I get close to someones rear on the interstate or something like that. It doesn't appear to automatically disable after so many seconds like the LIs do.
    No, you can set the distance, I have mine at 3 and distance is only about 2 feet maybe little less. You would have to be really close for it to beep at you.
    Go Like Hell, you'll get there.

    Wow that is very interesting YC. I just started thinking if the thing has a faster processing than the STIR Plus unit (and we know it does) then it might possibly make things more responsive and possibly increase range just a bit.

    That is interesting that you observed this. It would be cool to see some testing the ALP brain vs the Bel STIR Plus brain wouldn't it?

    Its also going to be nice having the 'Savvy' like feature of muting radar alerts below a set speed, and inhibiting laser defence below a set speed with the r/g module and GPS antenna

    Hey can you manually mute the radar alerts from the controller?

    I believe pressing one (or both) of the buttons will mute it - I usually use ALPConnect, where you can just tap the screen to mute.

    You can also set automute in the setup options on alpupdate.com ;

    If ENABLE is selected, radar alert sound volume will be quieter after first 6 seconds of alert.

    Cool ... winterbrew do you also have GPS on your so you can use the savvy like feature?

    Do you just just the GPS antenna from your stir plus that also plugs into the module.

    Does the module for GPS and STIR Antenna have to have its own power source or does it just get its power from the CPU?

    GPS antenna isn't available yet. It is coming very soon and I believe it will cost about $40. It I specific to the ALP.
