The next time I see them in my town with it, I am going to do a couple laps.

Well,we'll see how you do when we meet in Taxachusetts in a few days.
I would guess he was targeting the cars ahead of you & b/c the TS throws out such a narrow beam (at short range) you got no scatter,by the time you became his interest at <200' (or less) it took a couple of seconds for him to re-aim & pull trigger ...you were just about on top of him by then.

A couple of years ago, my wife and I were driving home on the parkway. There was a cop shooting lidar, but he didn't shoot me b/c I saw him way ahead of time, slowed, and moved over to the right lane. I wanted to turn around and my wife looked at me like I had three heads, and called me a dork.

I agree here, no way the front heads should have alerted to a car being shot behind you at 200ft and the rear didn't alert. However in rain or a dusty conditions lidar can reflect/disperse off particles in the air and provide a good amount of scatter so this may be why?

Yeah, but you still won't know the exact moment the trigger is pulled to determine if you have a "delay" or not.I'll bring a couple of walkie-talkies so you can "hear" me announce while I pull the trigger.

That would make sense, but for some reason with the same type of scenario he got a front alert when the scatter should have set off the rear.
