Visual alerts for deaf people

So I sold one of my Escort Live cables today via Craigslist to a guy here locally. He's a really nice guy running a Max. Turns out he's deaf so he definitely needs visual alerts.

It got me thinking since he isn't running jammers yet.. What sorts of visual alerts do you get with the ALP? I know there's a LED you can mount, for example. If a person's phone is already tied up with Waze, Live, GPS, phone calls, whatever else, what else is available besides using the phone?

I'd like to send him some info and I'm wondering how else things could be tailored to him.

The app would log what he's shot with too since he won't hear the audio for the guns being called out. That should benefit him as well.

The Control Module has an alert LED that is very bright and then there is another remote LED that customers can mount in their speedometer area that is also very bright. If you mount it in front of your view there is no way you will miss an alert.

The led is very bright even in dim mode. Too bright for me. I wish there was a way to dim it even more so.

It's best to offset it, rather than directed at your eyes(or line of vision)...especially for nighttime driving.If that's not possible you could rig up some kinda small flip-down shade in front of it at night.

I keep all installs in Dark Mode so when they alert you really cant miss the bright Red Light going off.

One thing I found when switching to Dark mode, is when you switch it to that mode, it's fine and works as described. But, once you power cycle the unit for any reason, most likely starting you car after it was turned off, it goes back to the blinking LED on the controller. The file I loaded last night appears to have Dim mode working now, but, at night, it's still way too bright. Any idea on how to keep the unit in Dark mode, after a power cycle of the unit or vehicle?

When powered on it Blinks for 60 seconds before going back into dark mode so that you see all the startup alerts if there are any problems. After the 60 seconds it will go dark again.

Got it, thanks. I wasn't waiting the 60 secs for it to cycle. I'll check it out when I go out in a few mins.

It didn't work. My CPU or controller has a mind if it's own. I waited 5 mins after starting up and it keeps blinking blue. Weird?

Did you put in Dark Mode from the setup file? I have two vehicles in Dark mode and both work flawlessly.
