Yes, OTA Updating is pretty convenient and the ALP is still running and defending while its downloading.

Before looking at an Escort Radar Detector you should really check out Uniden Detectors.. Uniden R1 & R3 are the best performing radar detectors for the money.

I just completed loading my two ALP systems and received an unusual verbal warning: CHECKSUM FAILED, RESTORE DEFAULTS.
Both ALP systems have CPU Hardware Version 2.
To two properly formatted USB Flash Drives (that I have used previously with no problems) I downloaded the new ALP Control Box F/W Update 5.2.5/6.8 - Uxxxxxxx.bin, for each individual system, also downloaded on to each flash drive: UCSTHIFI.BIN, VOICEPCK.ALP, CONFIG.ALP (with Profiles A/B/C).

The updates to each system appeared to be progressing normally until almost completed, when the CHECKSUM FAILED, RESTORE DEFAULTS warning was heard.

The sequence of voice messages for each system was:
    Data Stored
    Firmware Updating
    Please Wait
    CHECKSUM FAILED, RESTORE DEFAULTS
    Data Stored

Both systems have previously had the "Restore Defaults and Memorize Sensors" function performed. No sensors have been added or deleted. All 5 sensors on each car alert to my hand when placed near each sensor. When in the Yellow Menu, function #6 "Connected Sensors" states F3, F2, F1, R2, R1.

Question: Should I go into the Yellow Menu, and perform function #5: Restore Defaults and Memorize Sensors? Will this take care of the "CHECKSUM FAILED" problem? If I do perform another "Restore Defaults and Memorize Sensors", will I have to reload my Configuration Profiles?

Thanks for any advice concerning this CHECKSUM FAILED situation.
