You need to load a new Config.alp file with this update. If you do not want to use profiles dont choose the option on the setup website but the file structure has changed so going forward you will need to load a new configuration file.

Before looking at an Escort Radar Detector you should really check out Uniden Detectors.. Uniden R1 & R3 are the best performing radar detectors for the money.

If I am correct in reading - A, B, C profiles is only available for HiFi controllers. Will this feature be available to those without HiFi in the future?

No, The fear is that it would be too confusing for most without the voice confirmation on what profile they are on. It will at some point be switchable via BT as well but for now only HiFi users.

If LED changes colors, you would know what profile you were in, so not sure where the confusion would be. It would be good if the LED would remain Cyan or Magenta instead of reverting back to blue, thus make it easy to tell what profile you are in at all times. In HiFi, does the system announce what Profile you are in at startup?

You think of this as an enthusiast with alot of knowledge. The problem is enthusiasts are less than 2% of the business and over 50% of the users have trouble even downloading a file from their PC to a USB Drive. To the average user the system is getting too complicated as it is then to remember what color they saw when they tapped a button by accident. ALP will not announce the profile at startup and it will just remember what profile you chose when the system was last on.

If you have a PDC-only or DLI-only profile, you'll know when you're in those based on the LED color.

If you have more than one LID profile, for example, a timed LID one and an unlimited one, here's my magic tip of the day: configure each one with a different LED mode (i.e. steady on one and flashing on the other), that way you'll know which one you're in at all times. On mine I have my timed LID profile with the external LED dark and control set LED dimmed (this is my normal profile and how I prefer the LEDs), while my unlimited profile has both LEDs flashing, so I have a constant reminder that I'm in unlimited.
