    Hello from the Netherlands

I am Jaco living in the Netherlands (europe)
Have used radar detection since a number of years, last one Stinger DSi.
    Also had a AL9 installed.

For my new car, VW Golf GTi pp (mk7) i have ordered a ALP and a Bel sti-r Plus M. (The new stinger is €1000 more expensive than the Bel)

Came to visit this forum as there is lots of info on the ALP to be found.

    Thanks for the warm welcome..

I was able to post a question in a section of the forum which seems closed for me now. I guess something went wrong there
Anyway, i will have the Bel and the ALP built into my Golf on Wednesday and Thursday (also an additional Alarm)

I was most interested on the sensor locations, so i can discuss that with the car shop.
Te intention was 1 sensor in the front and 1 in the back, but i got a reply in the other thread which sort of said to place 2 sensors in the front and 2 in the back.

The back seems hard to cover on a VW Golf mk7, as the only easy position is above the number plate, and that is relatively far from the back lights.
Also it is unclear if the law enforcement is allowed to laser from the back, as that would be a negative measurement. I need to look into that.

I could move the 2nd sensor to the front to have better coverage there, and later update the back. The sensors are quite expensive over here (about $350 in dollars). Also i haven been chekced only 2 times in over 2 years, so there is not that much laser here (only in city area's) on the highway they use mobile radar setups.

For radar the policy over here switched over to jenoptic multiradar CD

Other systems in use are the gatso T systems, mesta 210c and the multinofa 6f (should be phased out by now)

Jaco , welcome , you will feel at home here.

Seem that VW is very popular in Europe.

Is your country banning cms , so you need to stealth everything ?

Radar detection is forbidden. Parking sensors like the ALP not..
So i need radar detection that is in basic a GPS based device which tells where the fixed radar positions are (legal)
If you than can load software for mobile radar controls it is not legal any more. So that functionality needs to be removed by some action of the user. I think the Bel supports it.

So stealth is better than showing it too clearly, as the police officers are not all dumb.

The ALP sensors will need to be a bit visable for good install i think (checks from above)

As for the sti-r antenna, it could go behind plastic, but the distance for the multiradar cd detection seems much better when nothing is in front of the sensor.

What i know of the location of the Sti-r's antenna is the higher = the better.

As for stealthing the heads of the Alp while maintaining effiency ...
the trick is in the pudding .

Autorities start with good freedom then they tighten the screw ! as for the Gps based announcement
    of photo-radar ....when $ get low ...

Roadway is now a big kindergarden ...only adults use cms

Interesting that you tell the antenna needs to be high up.
I read other oppinions on a local forum, but there it is also unclear what the best position is.
The multiradar CD our law enformcent officers use (over 250 were bought last year) send with very low wattage en i think circular polirasation.
So detection distances vary from 150-200 meter with persons with the antenna behind the plastic of the front part of the car. One that is installed with free sight out gets 400 meter sometimes.
