I found the easiest way to get thru the firewall is coming thru the in cabin air filter box. Usually behind the grove box. Note sure about his model ford.

This doesn't look that hard at all to solve & have an idea for you.There's a Ford dealership the next town over from me,I will stop by later today to see if they have one in the lot so I can take some measurements.
The hardest part is knowing where to get thru the firewall...have you figured that out ?

Yeah firewall shouldn't be a problem.

I am thinking of making the scaffold out of the mounting bracket itself. But I will just have to modify the bracket and make it narrower to fit through the honeycomb. I'll pass it through the grill and screw it on from underneath somehow.

Well,they had a bright yellow SI on the lot.The honeycomb lattice grill was solid black plastic,no where could I put my finger thru !
Yet pix of your's appears to have some solid areas & some of the lattice work looks open...is this correct?

Yeah on top and bottom it's open, solid in the middle to cover the actual bumper/crash bar. It wasn't a fiesta st was it?

Never walked to the rear to see name,but frontal area w/ "ST" emblem was exactly same as your pix.
External to grill could be done w/ supplied mount,but prolly an aesthetics issuing for you I'm guessing,eh ?
Doubt you would want it mounted where the hood closes near the HL's would you ?

"In" the grill or behind it would involve cutting a couple webs of the lattice work where it's open,like near the curved plastic bar structure.
Careful cutting & leaving a small horiz. piece for mounting w/ a few beads of glue or "RTV" silicone rubber to secure firmly is doable.

Easily doable after taking a second closer look w/o a Salesman cornering me like yesterday.BTW,the Yellow hot rod WAS a 6-spd Focus ST w/ a 2013 new car invoice sticker on Drivers window.

Judiciously careful cutting w/ a "fine toothed" hacksaw blade removed from tool handle makes this super easy & quick.A small section of lattice work cut out from between adjacent honeycomb sections leaves a "perfect" horiz. flat & level pieces on which to set the Sensors on.A small bead of silicone rubber under each side will secure it firmly in place.By using this method,easy removal is guaranteed when car is sold.
If you keep & save the 2 cut-out pieces,they could be glued back in place & no one would ever be the wiser when sold.

" >-<" - Removing a section like this near the top of that curved plastic support bar is all that is required.
