I just received the BT module today (it's smaller than I expected) and having just now hooked it up and tested it out, I must say I am VERY impressed! In fact more than I thought I'd be.

A big big thank you to kasher1979 for sending me the module for testing and video making!

I'm really impressed at the way it can immediately start alerting when backgrounded on Android. It switches right over to the app if you're running something else in the foreground like YaV1 or Waze and you instantly get the info and can JTK. I didn't test this with the iPhone, but it looks like with iOS, you just get a pop up alert and have to press a button to manually switch back to the app, a limitation of the OS.

Oh, it does work fine on my jailbroken iPhone 6 with 8.1.2. The module is more like the V1C LE than the V1C in that you don't need to pair the module in your phone's settings. This confused me at first. You just go right into the app to pair and connect. I didn't realize it was a BLE device and am still "programmed" to do it the old way by default.

It doesn't play nicely with my car's stereo to play alerts over it. It works, but I can't listen to the radio while the app is paired and playing music. It completely takes over and I think it's a limitation of my stereo system itself because I've noticed similar issues when trying to make phone calls. I tried duck and mix, but the only thing that gives me my stereo back is force quitting the app. Thus I'm going to play over the phone's speaker instead which isn't very loud (one of the main reasons I opted for the HiFi module instead), but given the fact that it flashes in my face with the YaV1 phone on my dash and the LED in my instrument cluster, it'll get my attention. I'll have to test later how loud my phone is when actually driving. (I wish I knew how to hook up the mute wire to my vehicle's stereo.)

Another issue I saw is that on Android, it alerts to the PL3 as "ProLaser 3 or 4" while on iOS it alerts as "ProLaser 3." Not sure why there's a difference there.

Is there any problem with displaying the BT module's serial number rather than blurring it out? I'm going to be doing some demo videos for both Android and iOS and comparing it to the HiFi module and wanted to know if I should go in and blur it out in the videos.

You can show the module serial number but don't show the CPU serial number on the information page. The files for the CPU are encrypted and I can't think of anything someone can do with the file without your CPU so honestly it might not be a big deal either. The only thing I can think of is associating Vortex to CPU #123456.

The PL3 & PL4 are impossible to tell the difference. The Android App is newer and I asked for the app to display ProLaser 3 or 4 because on previous versions if you were with with a PL4 it would just say PL3 so now it will show that its a PL3 or PL4. I would not worry about the BT serial number. Its not like the CPU Serial number it cant be used for anything and I would not worry about it in any videos. Many of my past videos have my BT Serial number shown. JUst be caution if you go into the "System Info" screen because that will show your CPU Serial number.

The issue is that it causes all music applications (Pandora, Spotify, etc.) to pause when ALPConnect is opened initially. You then have to switch to the app that paused and start playing again. Once it starts playing again, the music plays fine with ALPConnect audio on top as required. Guessing this is a "feature" so you hear the connection sounds of ALPConnect, or it may just be how the APIs for audio work on the iPhone.

Just a minor annoyance since the play/pause button in my car doesn't get the music playing again, switching to the music app via the screen is required, then normal behavior is restored.

    Hopefully!
I'm currently running 8. 3 Beta 1'and it still drops out let's say twice an hour or so, but great improvement on before.
8.2 when released in next month will we hope eliminate the issue even though 8.3 still has the problem.
It is widely said that ios9 which is currently being developed will have hardly any new features but will be solely developed to rid the system of bugs and improve the iOS software. Let's hope so

Not sure which pre-release version ALP has been testing but they have had no issues with the pre-release version and the next ALP Connect which should be released at the same time.

Can confirm that I have been running ios8.3 for several weeks now and no connection issues whatsoever. Finally Apple have got it.
8.2 has been released to public, not sure if problem is fixed with that release but may well have.
