    Radar is used WIDELY, if you drive on the M1 every day you will typically get KA hits 1-2 times if travelling during the day, especially on the gateway. Add to that the Wall-E looking speed cameras on the M1 you may have seen use low power K band, while there still is no RD that can detect them with any useful range I would still STRONGLY advise something for KA.
