I posted the other day over at RDFORUM but thought I'd introduce myself here as well.
I am an Radar/Lidar dector user from way back. Maybe over 28 years ago now until I was driving interstate approx 22 years ago when I was nabbed by a RDD which suddenly ended my ownership of such a device and $700US fine back then! I think I had an old Bel model from memory but clearly not stealth. Note the device was legal in my home state!
My interest has been renewed with a new car which is a 718 Cayman and out back drive days where I'm occasionally inattentive to my speedo on the open country road with little or no traffic bar our drive group. Usually I might see a highway patrol car driving in the opposite direction so it is mainly mobile in-car cameras which I understand are in the K band.
My feeling is highway patrol are a little overzealous down here and even if they sniff something they are allowed and will search you and your car so I am looking at the NetRadar DSP for no visible in car controls. I notice in another post they are now on the look out for jammers here.
I understand that if I mount the DSP low in the car it will be undetectable and you can switch it off in park mode on the app for any close encounters.
I watched the Vortex video from 8 Feb 2018 but it is hard to see exactly what height he is holding the Spectre Elite at, and I've heard the Spectre III is actually more sensitive so how does it fair with that? Also in the video he has mounted the DSP at the bottom of the miata bumper, maybe 5" off the ground which is unrealistic for most cars. I think it is more likely to be at 12" to 20" which is a lot higher. I'd be interested to hear of how it is fairing at higher positions although it does seem that even at 20" should be still ok.
