A question about how stealth and Radar detection works?
Hello,
In a lot of (uninformed) F-35 Debates you get the typical "Well stealth can be detected with advance radar and rendered obsolete" arguments.I am not a military aviation engineer but I do have a basic understanding of RCS and radar. What I do not understand is the argument that radar detection is a binary state, which means objects are either detected or undetected. Given that the F-35 is the RCS of a golf ball (estimated) given a sensitive enough radar to pick up golf ball like objects in the air, would you not also pick up every single bird, cloud or hail that also looks like a golf ball in the air? If given more advance radar technology, would the advance radars be more prone to false positives in attempts to picking up a stealth aircraft?
Please help
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
