Welcome. Just hope u can camouflage your heads. I am sure you have read the CA VC section 28150. The way the law is written, it gets ugly if you get caught with 4 heads. Of course it is ugly for a moving violation in CA ( Starting @ $750 depending on where is CA) Good Luck

It's not 4 heads, it's 4 jammer units. The law was written to distinguish between a user of a jammer (equipment violation, infraction, $99 fine) and someone selling them (misdemeanor). If you're arguing that every head is a "device", then you could argue that every diode within the head is a separate "device" as well.Quote:

I wouldn't worry about the Ca law. It is basically a fixit ticket.
You have limited mounting options on the rear, basically the only place is above the rear license plate.
On the front I recommend mounting on the grill of the two side radiators and one head on the top center of the central radiatior.
Well, I did not read that interpretation in the law, a good friend that I used to ride with the is / was (Retired) a CA High Way Patrol told me that they were instructed that 4 heads were a misdemeanor and could lead to arrest depending on attitude. I guess is would be up to the judge.:disgust:
The LEO could charge you with anything he/she doesn't like your attitude. Whether the charge sticks is another matter. If you have an attitude, the LEO could walk around your car and look for every burned out light, check your tire tread, etc., and give you fix-it tickets for all of them. The LEO could issue a fix-it ticket for not running a front plate, even though CHP doesn't care about that for the most part.Quote:

For the front of the car, I'm thinking about mounting it in the areas marked red in the attached image. For the back of the car, I'm planning on just mounting it on the rear license plate.

You need 2 heads on each end of the car you want to protect. Red is the right height but the heads are too far apart. Bring both heads closer as far to the center as you can get in the same slot.
For the hear, One head on the top of each end of the license plate area.
If doing only 2 front heads, I'd go as far in as possible. Ideally you want about 18-20" between the heads. Are you sure you only want to do 1 rear head? You won't get protection against the newer variable pulse rate (VPR) guns with only one head. VPR is not yet a problem in CA, but when they do start showing up, you'd need 2 rear heads.Quote:

For rear jammers, they'd probably find a way to put them into the license plate frame (and custom design a frame for you specifically for the jammers you're using). Of course that means cutting your bumper, and if you ever upgrade jammers in 5-10 years, the old holes in your bumper may not align with the new jammer heads...
Whether it's worth what they charge, well, that's a personal decision.
I'd go with ALPs as they are updated frequently, and also have a hardware advantage with more sensors per head, etc. You'll pay a bit more, but worth it in the long run. I'm not familiar with Premier in Fremont. Not all installers are the same. Just make sure they place the heads where you tell them to (with help from everyone here) and make sure they are level/square on all axis.
