I see on RDF that Stinger VIP is "coming soon" to USA, and the starting price is > $5k USD :)
Could mean they've adapted it for the standard USA Ka frequencies now (33.8, 34.7, 35.5 GHz) ?
Also it was originally designed for static photo radar in EU, so changes would need to be made for mobile radar detection ?
$$$$$$$$$$$ that seems wild price, but yeh will be good if that happens ,i remember a while bak talking to the guy in WA that sells em and the frq for OZ weren't good, but they were looking into it, i think they also could have done things for mobile k, if so and they get good range i think it will be really good
starting price is > $5k USD
:hopelessness:
Holy batshit, Batman!!!
Here in Spain 2.800 Euros.
Stinger VIP, DSI and Card has the best interface, intuitive, easy to use, perfectly designed, and you can install more than 1 only antena to 1 system. But, in my opinion, M3 is better on detection, and you are able to setup what you want.
In Spain, Stinger DSI&Card doesn`t detect out of tune radars, even minimum diferences (Ex. 34.1 Ghz is not alerted, and 34,3 yes).
as wb mentioned they may be coming to the USA, i wonder if they have over come this allowance for out of tune guns,
just had a kwik sqizzz yep wb here it is
http://www.stinger.com/US
wonder who is bringing it into the US
Not very good from what I hear.

Yep I get that sorta range on some depends I think which way they are set, some are very short on warning
i Emailed Stinger direct and a reply came back Paul zmr,the OZ agent in WA, we had a good chat and he may join us :D and he confirmed that the vip is a very comprehensive unit and is just as capable as the plus,in freq and the red flex, also had good reports against the polis
found this on rdf moving ka vs sti had stinger set at 7% dont know what that means ?

OK guy's , Stinger Vip will be active here on the East Coast next week, radar only
5g hmmm
i wonder if it is because its a lot shorter angle on the rear end attack, because if ur on the other side of the road approaching a rear np snatcher u can pick it up at a longer range
You would think so but I think they have 2 power settings going by the manual. I believe its on low power when they are on rear attack, plus the rd is less likely to pick up the beam until last moment.
Be interesting to see how the stinger plays against the ddm. :)
Yep sure will, doing a few k, s over next few month ob the plus and St both running
Stinger Installed whoohoo, need some help how to get a pic from mi i phone, pm wb see if he can ?

Added dinky - cheers WB :)
cheers mate done one run kwikie only shop fronts showing on plus and chirping, nothing from S, so i presume setting band k is set within the limits
Done a bit of checking on setting there is adjustments for sensitively and extra distance warnings. No settings for band seg, KA or K. pre loaded by the looks of it and automatically recognizes which state Ur in , looking into that with RH
How you finding your new toy?
Ain't been out yet, changed the settings to high sensitivity and broader band spread, also there is an interesting sec in the install man for the low power in Europe u turn the ant to a 45deg angle, if u look 0n there Web site Vip install
Looks like its for MultaRadar CD (MRCD) ;
Attachment 2337
Yep that's the one, I was just thinking it adds more thought to when ba turned his vertical
Yeah, the MRCD is a strange beastie though (I think the V1 detects it as multiple bogeys on k band) :)
I think the Gatso and Redflex are more conventional though, just polarised in one plane and low powered.
The Stinger's patch antenna is supposed to cope with horizontal / vertical polarisation with no issues, so MRCD must be different
Good thinking, Circular may be,
hmm...
I'm just speculating here, but looking at the patches themselves, and the way they're rotated 45 degrees, it almost looks like they're designed for linear polarization and rotating them 45 degrees so that they're a compromise halfway between vertical and horizontally polarized sources.
Attachment 2340
I believe the Multanovas are vertically polarized so it looks like they're simply rotating it another 45 degrees to help with detecting it, at the cost of diminished horizontal polarization performance.
Just a guess.
You are right Vortex :rolleyes-new:
I cant comment on there radar but when I was purchasing my LI the owner give me a demo of the VIP it was a while ago but the laser heads are the same size as original parking sensors little round circles you find in bumpers of cars ...these sensors can be mounted any where ..the main receiver (some sort of square box ) was the only detector ...when I had the demo in the shop he needed to aim his laser gun at the receiver box ...there was also a time delay between the trigger pull and alert just like the LI has
the laser heads are probly the smallest on the market to this day but the flip side is that the laser heads are only the transmitting not receiving as there is only one receiver unit so one would hope that one single receiver unit will pick up laser every time
to be honest I wasn't impressed with the quick demo while I was at the shop specially when he told me the price
for a 5 grand system that will be out dated withen 5 years this goes for all laser jammers and detectors there is no such thing as future proof
MRCD is vertically polarized (Ex., STI-R M-Ed only detects it horizontally mounted). The problem of this radar is its emision, FMCW. That is the reason why V1 identifies it as multiple boogies.
I would still like to test one. The Display on this unit is quite nice.
i asked about that and RH said the singer was spectra proof
Stinger is ALMOST undetectable, but not 100%...
I have no test with MPHD, but previous antena was detectable at a few meters.
Thanks Hector :)
