The Real YellowCab

While I want this forum to be completely Drama Free & BS Free I keep getting attacked for having YellowCab part of this site. The reason I was banned from RDF was because I would not cut off ties to YellowCab.

I was given this ultimatum on 11/4 right before RDF banned me:

We want to offer you one last chance to break ties with YC, radarrob and RRedRocket. The choice is yours - we cannot force you to do anything on your own websites, but we don't have to allow you a continued presence on ours. Please let us know your decision by 10pm EST on Monday November 4th.

Now let me share a story with you all that shows who the real YellowCab is in my opinion. Back when Hurricane Sandy hit NJ, A Forum Member at the time being in NJ as well as us were preparing for the storm. I had already had a generator and The Member had just bought his first. We stayed in touch throughout the night until we all lost power. To make a long story short I ended up being one of the lucky ones with no major damage I and was only without power for around 3 1/2 days. As soon as my power was restored I lent out my generator to another friend of mine who was not lucky and ended up without power for 2 weeks.

I had spoken with The Member the day after I lent out my Generator when his Generator suddenly seized on him and it was impossible to find a replacement generator anywhere. It was freezing and I was already having over 20-30 people on a given night staying with me because we had power and heat and I made an offer to him and his wife to come over even though I was out of room but he ended up staying in his flooded home. He was lucky enough to have a neighbor that had lent him their generator while they away but they were coming back the next day and he had to give it back.

Being the person I am I called everyone I knew to find anyone with a Generator that would lend one to this member. I could not see him staying in a cold damn home without any power. After calling everyone I knew and stuck out I ended up calling YellowCab who at this point I had only met him once at a meet and asked him if he by any chance had a generator to lend this member and to my surprise he said he had one and was willing to loan it out. I drove the 70+ miles to his home to pickup this generator and not only did he have the Generator waiting for pickup he had Gas containers filled up with gas, Blankets, Batteries, Lanterns, Garbage Bags, Etc.

I drove the 70+ miles back home and then to the members home to delivery the generator which was used until power was restored over a week or so later.

Many have their issues with YellowCab for one reason or another but that has not been my experience and I would not break ties with someone that has never done anything wrong to me or anyone that I personally know. When I mentioned I was working with AntiLaser on the AL Priority he was there from the beginning with Pre-Testing and more testing and never asked for a thing in return.

I do not want to add Drama to this site but I just wanted to share my experience with him.

I remember this story when I was a mod on RDF. I too thought it was a cool gesture to lend someone you don't even know a generator.

That was very nice of you to make that post. You do know me much better than the average community member. I hope if another community member found himself in a similar situation there would be someone close by from here that would help him out. I known there are many good, caring members here and on RDF that would do as I did. The real thanks and accolades should go out to the community for bringing us all together.

I really don't understand what could possibly cause so much resentment etc between radar detector enthusiasts.

I remember this and Tom you went out of your way to help another member in need.

I dont know what all went down with all the drama on RDF and frankly I dont care, what I do know is you are a stand up guy for a number of things.

I am the said member who was so generously helped by both Tom and Yellowcab. These two would give the shirts off their backs to help another out. We have been fed lies about them, when in reality they have done absolutely nothing wrong. I have been witness to the big hearts that these two have. They have done things to help others out with no other motive than just wanting to help others. To Tom, Yellowcab, radarrob, redrocket, I apologize for the way you have all been treated. I am grateful to have you all in this community, and even more grateful to know most of you personally.

I remember when it happened. Great story helping others out when in a time of need. THANKS!!!

This forum and community is all about helping each other out. We are all in an extended family. At times we may fight, disagree and get mad at each other but in the end we all must be here for each other. Be it giving each other advice, sharing information, helping out on an installation testing each others installations or when more important when real life event happen sometimes tragic, traumatic or difficult we must all stand up support and help each other.

Salty, there are times at meets when we have greeted each other as brother and you will always be my brother.

I became aware of YC's selfless act of compassion to a stranger & his family shortly after the disaster happened.Made quite an impression on me & an important consideration of ones character when choosing a friend.There are many other reasons,of course...but I'm proud to call him a friend of mine & grateful he considers me a friend of his,too.

I personally hate how "the others" think we are nut huggers or have been manipulated but for me Yellowcab has done nothing but look out for me and my family also. I have never even met him in person, but he helped me tremendously about 1-1.5 years ago when me and my family were going through some tough times. I won't go into details but he went above and beyond for me! Thanks.

You can't be his friend if you are my friend is the kind of crap my kids see in middle school.

Sometimes people's personalities don't mesh well. I base my opinion on how you treat me and how I see you treat other people.

Hey all

I was just reading this thread for the first time and I really like what I see here. I feel blessed to be acquainted with you guys as well since joining the forums. I havent met any of you guys persoanlly but I have received a warm welcome from you especially on this forum in particular. Johnboy, and Mirage a great big thank you to these guys for taking me under your wing and helping me figure out the laser jammer world. Oh cant forget Tom from BRD he and Paul (his employee) have been 100 percent awesome to me. These guys really would give you the shirt off their back to help I believe that. Tom has always gone above and beyond for me. I would never think about doing business anywhere else!
