The new HW4 CPU is the latest version of the ALP CPU and it has been shipping for a few weeks now. For laser protection there is no functional difference between the older HW2 and the newest HW4 CPU. The HW4 CPU adds additional memory which is needed for new features that will be releasing in the future for our customers with integrated radar configurations. The only physical change is that we have switched to a new Black Enclosure vs, the standard grey enclosures.

Fingers crossed that isn't the case, I have a couple of STi-R heads and rg modules.
In the US we stopped selling them 2+ years ago. We will not stop the support of them but NR has really become a much better solution and it will grow in time.Quote:

Its still new but in time we will offer an upgrade to those that need it. Most BSM Filtering is done in the antenna and a Sti-R Plus has very poor filtering so you might eventually want to upgrade to a newer NR DSP head.Quote:

Apart from WA/SA, who have K band HWP, the rest of the country uses KA for HWP, but the whole country now apart from WA now uses Redflex Radar Speed Cameras, so we are pretty much screwed no matter which RD we use presently.
Will HW2 be compatible with any new NR features or will the new CPU be a must? I've been wanting a screen for ages so this sure is exciting, but my 4 year old HW2 is still perfect and I just want to be able to lockout
New radar features will require a new CPU. HW2 CPU's are just about out of memory.Quote:

This was designed to help with the use of the NR in vehicles that put out false K band alerts.. Allowing it to record the frequency and level on the vehicle so that instead of band segmenting out a large block which is more dangerous the ALP will ignore only the select frequency range and only at the strength of the vehicle. You can also use this to help with BSM alerts that are weak and in ranges you would not typically want to band segment.
I just upgraded to hw4. Now my old BT doesn't work. I hope my str+ still works. I have a Uniden r7 for radar but still user the str+ in VA. The uniden work much faster than the str+.
BT module should not be affected. Did you reconnect it correctly and not accidentally reverse the cables on the BT module.Quote:

I purchased the new HW4 cpu, gps sensor, and TX sensor. I can't find any documentation on making sure the lasers are firing with this new setup. I used to test my setup once a month to make sure each laser is firing with the remote tester. Is there no way of doing this now except rigging up a gopro to test these above 25 mph?

I was advised that the ALP test fires each laser and detects if a laser is not firing during the self test. I do hope this is correct. Thanks for this info Tom.
Other than looking at your install w/ an IR camera as you drive by above 25mph you cannot see the IR outputs.Quote:

The camera would be mounted in front of the alp sensor on the vehicle, with the proper filter, not on the side of the road at 25 and above. This however would not be needed as Tom stated the system test fires the laser during self test. As long as the alp lasers are firing, during a self test, I am good. Now I don't have to check them once a month. Thanks.
