Rear defence really required?

It will work but, you will need to get the head dead central and perfectly level.

Otherwise you will get pt on the brake lights.

Thinking I could always just remove two of the rear park sensor and replace with the Stingers

I'd leave them in man
2 extra won't hurt.
If you have room on either side of your number plate there is always the option for the lipstick lidar module.
