The MPHD is sporadically detectable within around 1 or 2 meters, (an STi is detectable within around 0.25 meters with my Spectre)
Printable View
After the STi has been on for some time (just checked again with a Magnum).
this gets interesting 1/2 meters detection is only a cars width if leo is parked next to , may have to put this to bed unless we can get more accurate info on the spectre scene , or can it go beyond the two meter, RH can we confirm this,
had three ka today never seen a leo , only two on the the road and one when i was in mi garage at home with the garage door open, that was a first, the other two never saw leo so dont know if it was off axis or behind, will change the plus to a lower gps speed for warning on the alp, but if the gps radar setting only cover k band, and not ka or if it covers both, wb ? because i heard nothing on the plus that's on if that was the case, as i say i will zero the gps
just realized the ka i got in mi garage, must be off axis, as there is no roads as such around me :thumb:
Been in touch with ground control, when I increased sensitivity to max, this also can have an effect, changed a few things now thx rh
Stinger just rocks, picks up ka while the plus is asleep, fast asleep , also rh ka needs up dating as what we talked about will pm u
sorry no vid
yep , me to and the adjustments that 's available is great range, sensitivity ,
the price has allway's kept folk away from them, about a $1000 diff between the plus and Singer, but over time if proved to be reliable and a better range (sensitivity) it may even it up with saves
ok next 1200 kms, ka on visual about the same, longer distance warning stinger is faster on pick up, also on low power k slant Stinger on top again , beginning to warm to the Stinger early warning, sorry brd no vids
will give it a go

at last comp still not right
Very nice over the hill beats the sti-r on K band! Thanks for that:cheerful:
I've had a Stinger VIP for over 1.5 yrs. Very happy with performance, especially on low power K band compared to my STI. The GPS false list feature makes my 50km drive to work each day whisper quiet, until a real threat is encountered.

Hi yaks, yeh have one on test and so far lovlng it, as you say great on low power radar and ka, I think we have an update coming next week,
Cool, Stinger are pretty good with updates, usually every couple of months.

Nice - going forward, it would be good to see how it does against the MultaradarCD (MRCD) which appears to be in NSW now, and is probably the future radar unit of choice for other states that decide to not go 100% lidar enforcement with Poliscan.
also would be good to know how well the Stinger laser handle's the polis as this farking thing is arriving in Qld, wonder if yaks, know any wa chaps using stinger against polis
I am using LI for LIDAR defence, I have heard it works well against polis IF using front and rear quad setup (where 2 pairs of heads are angled 30 deg. IMO the LI heads are hard to keep stealthy, the stinger heads look awesome as they look OEM, but I have yet to find credible performance tests of its laser capability.

Yeh they do look awesome, and would blend well with the bodywork
Yeah, I'd like to at least see a video on how Stinger laser handles a rear facing Poliscan (rear sensitivity, i.e. how many metres past the camera 'til alert). A dual rear LI setup will often only alert 50 - 60m past the cam, and the VPS usually nails you around 30 - 40m past, so too late. My rear dual LI's also missed a few rear VPS shots, even running max sensitivity. A quad LI at the rear for VPS is a must, with all the angles and heights covered.
Agreed, may be yaks knows some Perth guys from rdf That have some experience with Stinger laser rear attacks
Did you say Perth guys may have experience with rear attacks.... sorry :focus:
:roflmfao: nice one
Good Explanation
here http://www.escortradarforum.com/foru...?t=9611&page=2 about the patch ant, just a small correction the vip ant is full ka wide band sweep
Probably VIP MPHD ant is full ka wide band sweep (I have not tested it yet), but previous models of SA had several problems with out of tune radars, and in Spain, we had to buy another new antena when 35,5 radars grow up (the previous only detects 34,3 Ghz.).
ok we are awaiting the new f/w which is adding 35.5 plus a lot more big up grade which will be just a normal usb job this week i think , no mention of antenna change so may be they have modified some thing to avoid the changing of the ant, also forgot to add band width and or sensitivity is also adjustable another great feature on this vip
Highly doubt any antenna change would happen if the antenna already does segments across the band. Especially at any microwave frequency. The adjustments would be less then a few microns. And that would not have any real gain. Just people blowing smoke I'm afraid.
coming soon :eagerness:
We are introducing VIP 3.0. A mega software upgrade, downloadable at no cost to all current VIP users. VIP 3.0 provides target view screens, improved audio alerts, further improved performance, and is even more quiet. Available soon via Stinger Desktop.
Find an overview of the VIP 3.0 features below.
TARGET VIEW SCREENS
Experience target view screens and you will never have to wonder where exactly the speed trap is. It shows whether radar* comes from ahead, the side, or the rear (requires front and rear HD Antennas on your car), laser* is shot at you from ahead or the rear (requires front and rear Lasers on your car), and has a proximity indicator for SpotList alerts.
IMPROVED AUDIO ALERTS
VIP 3.0 also comprises new voice alerts (in English), as well as accelerating SpotList Alerts with which the alert rhythm will increase the closer you get to the Spot. Also, we have added SimpleSounds: the option to enable more subtle alert sounds.
Short Pulse radar gun
EVEN BETTER PERFORMANCE
We engineered something we call 'Dynamic Sensitivity'. This adds extra sensitivity right where you need it: against tricky speed traps. Moreover, VIP 3.0 also provides new alerts for so called Short Pulse, Quick Trigger or POP radar guns such as used in some parts of Europe and the U.S.A.
EVEN MORE QUIET
Stingers are relatively quiet co-pilots already. But it can still be better. With 3.0 believe we have taken a big step yet again. The completely new FalseListing platform makes your Stinger so quiet that it may make you think you switched off the sound. On top, the before mentioned Dynamic Sensitivity will make your VIP even more quiet. Lastly, the new VIP software comes with further improved filtering features that can stop erroneous in-car and out-of-car radar sources from ever bothering you.
AND ALSO...
Next to all this, VIP 3.0 also encompasses:
- support for the VIP XL Display
- support for front and rear HD Antennas
- better and faster signal processing
* NOTE: FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITIES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE WHERE ALLOWED
ok still rolling got two low power k wont bore ya but i sure like the S by my side, and ka same again, all up very very impressed
Waking up an old thread.
So far I've been amazed by Stinger.
Detection beats my vertical STIR+ with DDM on both KA I/O and low power k photo cam detection.
Beats my Redline on KA I/O.
The false filtering is brilliant, and locking out falses makes for a quiet ride, considering the lock outs are based on a much smaller bubble then the STIR+ and its also to that freq rather then a band seq, it makes you feel safe locking out falses.
The spot list alerts are brilliant, certainly is ahead of my TomTom for "safety" cameras.
Hopefully now that the weather is warm and the holidays are near, there will be more chances to test against live "threats".
Watch this space :).
