The ALP is going to get a display eventually. Is that going to show exactly what's shown on the phone's display when using ALP connect?

Display is far out in the future and is not even under development. Its sounds though based on what you are wanting you would want the full Sti-R Plus. The ALP is the best laser defense system and AL is not a radar detector company. We offer several modules to give customers options but we cant please everyone.

Hey BRD, This might sound like a stupid question, But do you know if we will be able to run the HiFI and the B/T Module at the same time? I know it sounds like over kill but you cant have to much.
Can the Hi-Fi and BT Connect work together? My phone is not all that loud especially when the stereo is on or kids are making a ruckus in the back. I'd like to use the Hi-Fi to "pump up the volume" that my phone can't do natively.
Doh! Thanks. Too bad. Feels like a cpu design issue that all add-on devices have to plug into the same port and can't work together.
HiFi module is an extension of the Control Module, Radar & GPS have their own ports, Display Module will have its own port. There are only so many ports you can have on a unit before its too large.
LI for example has 5 Ports (4 Sensors + 1 Serial) - ALP has 10 ports (Remote LED, 5 Sensors, 1 Control Module, 1 Display Module, 1 Add On Module & 1 USB Port) - There is a lot already packed into that unit.
All it needs is 2 control ports, so you can plug in any 2 of: control set, HiFi module, Bluetooth module. Or offer an external "hub" that turns the one control port into multiple. Or have a pass-through port on the bluetooth module. Probably the most important is to be able to run the BT module alongside one of the others, so you have a backup in case the phone app crashes, BT connection drops, phone battery dies or you're on the phone when you're shot and need to JTK somehow. An external switcher works but it's a bit kludgy.
As per Mirage's recommendation, I use the Jabra Freeway Bluetooth speaker with ALP Connect. Works very well and loud.
Yea but i wouldnt care if it said :rolf:
As far as using the Jabra B/T speaker, I got one adn tried it, This is an awesome set up, but with the way i have my car set up i can not use it, I run my I phone plugged into the radio and when i do that everything from my phone is directed back into the radio speakers, so it served me no purpose...
I cant wait till the HiFi is released.... I rather have each system running on its own, If i have a failure then its 1 failure and not a total..
Just a bump, Wondering if where getting any closer?
Will the standard control still alert with the usual sounds in addition to the Hi Fi Control Set? Or does the Hi Fi Control Set replace the standard control completely?
The HI-FI setup will sound exactly like the BT APP now, so you will not hear a peep out of the controller once speaker is hooked up
That's unfortunate, if true. Right now, the standard controller tells you that you've properly JTKed by ceasing to produce sound after you hit a button. If the Hi Fi Control Set does exactly the same thing as the BT app (ceases producing sound as soon as you JTK), then that kind of negates the point of having it (ability to tell what you were hit with). With the BT app, you can always see that information on your phone's display, but right now, the ALP has no display module option. And the BT app takes way too long to announce the gun, over 3 seconds.
I hope that instead, there's some option to do something like:
- First button press: JTK, standard control set beeps OR Hi Fi control set gives off a very clear audible signal that denotes JTK, then Hi Fi control set continues announcing the gun
- Second button press: Silence Hi Fi control set
at least until the Display becomes available.
I could be wrong--BRD may jump in and explain....
You are not wrong... The HiFi is a replacement controller with an external speaker. It will behave just like the Controller only difference is when alerting it will have Voice Alerts instead of the tone alerts. If you mute the unit it will mute just like muting the Control Module.
BRD, I hope the sound of that drum and siren can be reduced to something like 1 second. Otherwise, I would fear that people won't JTK quickly enough if they're trying to hear what they've been hit with. This is especially important with some of the newer guns that can lock onto a target so quickly that anything > 2 seconds starts to look suspicious.
Stats will still be recorded no matter what so they can always be reviewed later. Its not finalized and they have not finalized all the system voices yet so there is always room for improvements in the future. Maybe an option to review a list of past alerts directly from the Control Module might be able to be added to the menu's.. Anything is possible.
Of course, but the HiFi module is being built for people who want to know immediately. If it takes 4 seconds to hear this information...well that's dangerous for our community, IMO. Every time someone using that module gets hit, he has to make a split second decision about whether to kill immediately (and have to pull the stats file, transfer it to a computer, and load it in a browser, which is a pain), or whether to wait until it's announced. Not everyone makes good decisions under stress, and for some close range shots (300' or so) at freeway speeds, 4 seconds might be JTG or nearly so. Sometimes, you might not even know where the cop is shooting you from.
Another Perk of the BT is it says right there on the screen what gun you were hit with, so you can JTK immediately and then just look at alerts when you get a second, you really dont have to pull any stats.
I agree 100% , why it would not be allowed to do our own voices , on my Li i was able to change each gun by a number ,
the total alert time was 1 sec : siren .5 + number .5 sec
Customization is the trend in every modern product ...
4 = markman or ultralite 20-20...easy to hear and remember.

I'm in for one, Tom!
Thanks
sheesh, i was just wondering where we were with a release date, Didnt mean to bring all this up :)
Can you guys consider adding backlight to the buttons? Like how the STi-R+ control module lights up at night. It makes it much easier to find the button. I found myself struggling to find the button a couple times I got hit at night.
Thanks!
Yes I do realize that but I run dark mode and pro mode so if the LEO is not actively targeting my car then the LED stays off. Plus, the LED tells me where the control unit is but not exactly where the buttons are so in stressful situations, I don't want to spend that extra second remembering whether the buttons are on the left or the right of the LED
What I think it's great about the ALP is during an alert you can hit any button and it doesn't matter which one to kill the jammers.
Tom---
Any update on the HI FI---Its time to produce ;)))
For the people who can't wait but use the bluetooth app. Just get a bluetooth speaker to run through your apple product...sounds amazing. ..
This does work well, But problem is that the system is then still not an independent system and if your like me that would serve you no purpose, Altho it has worked for many, For me not so much and im awaiting the HiFi as well.....
When i travel im on the road for 14 hours before i break and i have found myself at some points turning the radio down and opening the window, Where at which that point i would only have the visual alert LED to let me know im being painted with lidar, Yes im not worried about jamming but i dont JTG and dont want to draw any attention to myself...
The other thing is that when i plug my Iphone into my car radio it runs everything to the radio so that i would not have the ability use the B/T speaker because it would just bypass the B/T Module..
In all honestly even if you have HiFi but turn the radio up and roll the windows down you will still have a hard time hearing the alert. If you push BT through your radio it would be the best option if you like the crank the radio up or use the mute wire and have it mute the radio when an alert occurs. There is no way to satisfy everyone but all we can do is add various options and leave it to the customer to choose which is best for them.
Honestly if you have issues with the volume, I think the best thing you can do is to mount the standard control set right near your steering wheel and turn the volume all the way up to 5. It is far, far easier to hear alerts from that thing not only because of the volume, but because of the frequencies used. The other alternative, of course, is to use the Hi Fi Control Set, and mount the speaker on the side of the driver's headrest, pointed directly at your ear.
I was saying that when i drive on long trips i tend to turn the radio volume down all the way, when i do this i can no longer hear my alerts if i was to get tagged... Yes i know i will still be covered but i dont want to JTG... If i cant hear my alert then thats what i would end up doing...
I do understand no can make everyone happy all the time, Tom I am NOT unhappy with my ALP Purchase, It was and still is the best investment.. My thoughts on the HiFi was so that if i am on a long road trip and i turn my radio down and i get tagged i will still be able to hear the alert, so weather im cranking up the music or just driving quiet down the road i will never have to worry about missing an alert..
It was more of a general statement and not directly geared to you but I was also thinking you were mentioning pumping the music up and not turning it down and the mute would help if you liked to pump it up. The radio muting would get your attention in that case.
