I did some head scratching and watched some videos. Yes: Premise flawed. Stationary isn't how this will be used.
On a whim, I WALKED towards my car while trying to get a speed reading. Without ALP turned on, I could "clock" myself walking towards my car at 2-3 mph.
Pointed at a wall and walked: 2-3 mph.
ALP on and walked? Much harder. The Stalker struggled. ("E04 No wait... uh... E04? Hang on I got it... uhh...")
One of these days I'll find a cooperative pal and test this real-world. Thanks SLO.

Yes.. It's easy to get a distance because you only need 1 return pulse. To get a speed you need concecutive pulses and they need to be in order. It's a night and day difference.
