I see no issue with vertical mount on the rear if you are protecting against rear shots from over passes. The issue will be off axis rear shots....
This is why I run quad rear, 2 vertical and 2 horizontal.

i recieved the rear sensors , after all thinking and figuring i went the good old way ,
adding a small illusion : to cut the contrast i place a stretch of electrical tape :

Bring them in as close to the edges of the red tail lights towards the CM of the car.
That will protect you from up close shots that overpasses are known for.
PS you have the best car for rear head placement for stealth....
