ALP failed

Hi:

If somebody can explain me what happened:
Today I was driving back home when my ALP and my radar (StiR plus) started to beep both at the same time notifying a laser alert. I adjusted the speed to the posted limit in less than 4 seconds (50 KMH I was driving at 75) and I calculate that I was targeted from 200 to 300 meters away.
OK I hadn't see the officer so I tough everything was fine. Suddenly from one truck that was parked in a driveway the officer showed up an made me stop and told me the exact speed that I was driving "75 Kmh".
Off course, nothing to say just I received my ticket.
Now, why this thing didn't work this time? I have the last firmware 5.1.2, I have two sensors in front of a medium size car (Hyundai Santa Fe 2014) both working OK at least as parking sensors.
I have my system with the bluetooth adapter connected to an Android phone (app up to date).
Distance between sensors is 25 inches.
This set up had worked against 2 other alerts with no problem.Attachment 4365Attachment 4366

Several things could have happened. You can start by posting photos of the install and making sure they are level and square. If they are pitched, recessed or not level it will cause issues. Also since the ALP was set to only 3 seconds and then kills how quickly did you speed back up after passing the officer? During the 60 second recycle your system would be in parking only and if they shot you from the behind it will not alert in parking mode.

Post a pic of your install and the ticket you received.

So, you were shot, you slowed, your ALP stopped jamming after 3 seconds but you didn't see the officer until you reached a driveway and he came out then? Sounds to me like you speeded up after the initial shot, and he shot you again while the ALP was still in warm-up (parking) mode so it didn't alert.

It also sounds to me like the initial shot was at a long distance. Maybe your ALP picked up scatter when someone in front of you was shot and then went into parking mode and then you were targeted next while the ALP was still in warm-up?

A good rule of thumb is, if you get an alert and you slow and kill, don't speed up until you know you're past the threat. The ALP is so sensitive that it could pick up scatter before you're the target, so if you don't see the cop and you speed up, you could be next, and you'll be defenseless at that point.

Until such time it's possible for us to figure out what happened, I think it would be prudent to raise your L.I.D. time to 5sec. instead of 3 it is currently set at.
You can always JTK sooner if you need to.

4 sec should be good enough to knock ur speed down, unless u travel at warp speed ;)

When I am watching video from this case in another forum and the time on the original movie I see:
The alarm started when the time is 13th s but he started slowing down in 16th s and when the time is in 17th s he really drove slowly. This is what I see.
So let's get this clear. The gun could not clocked from 13,25 s to 16,25 s and probably clocked him in somewhere between 16,25 - 16,5 s, because the heads were off from 16,25 s. They worked only between 13,25 to 16,25. He started slowing down from 16,5 and it was definitely to late.
And what I see he drove clearly slowly in 17th s, but it doesn't matter.

Conclusion: Only the driver failed, the device was good.

Either the reaction time should be better or the time which is set in software should be at least 5s.

PS. Of course it could be installed a little better, but in this case it doesn't matter.

With a setting as low as 3 seconds you need to break immediately and based on the video he did not start to react until almost the 3 seconds in which the ALP was programmed to allow a speed. I suggest any new user sticks with the default 4 seconds or maybe even 5 seconds until they get some practice killing.
