Hi I was having possible drama with my alp
It blew up 2 sensors so far this year and has made a terrible noise
Please place your ear against CPU and tell me what you hear when its on with all controller sensors in
Please much appreciated I feel like i'm driving so naked this week so DCG came to rescue me and just to make me feel protected etc and safe they are sending the new cpu even though they feel there is nothing wrong with it Cheers fr DCG
Possibly try to record the noise on your phone and post it up. Video's help a lot.
My CPU is silent, no audible humming noise, same with the heads.
What firmware you running?
What is the date of manufacturing?
I think all Australians here, have had one CPU die. But its been a FW related issue and to my knowledge has been resolved

For sure something is wrong with yours.
The only part that can make noise is a blowing capacitor , but it is only once.
I had the ALP in the house, connected to a power supply, before it was installed. The only noises it ever made came when it was actively jamming (when I was shooting the LIDAR simulator at it). I'm not talking about the alert sounds, I'm talking about sounds coming from the CPU/heads. Other than that, it was quiet.
Looking at the pics of the internals the only parts I see in there that are likely to make sound are three inductors (coils). They can sometimes resonate to the frequency that they are driven with. I've heard that faulty capacitors can make sound too, but that's not as common.
Since the inductors seem to be related to power-related circuits (maybe boost regulators for the heads?), a defect that is making the noise in the OP's CPU could also be frying his heads.
