I recently had my APL system installed along side my 9500ci in my Jeep SRT8. I had the 9500ci left over from my previous vehicles and figured I would let the 9500ci handle the radar aspect and leave the ALP to handle the radar. Things were going well, but then I updated the system on the 9500ci and now the thing goes off CONTINUOUSLY! I live in Orange Co/LA area and I know it has to learn the area as I drive, but even in my neighborhood I keep getting new K band alerts. I understand that newer cars with blind spot and crash avoidance systems are probably the triggers but I really don't want to disable K band. The main reason being, I was driving to work yesterday morning and was picking up K band where I don't normally get any alerts. I was the lead car with no on coming traffic, so I slowed down a bit. Sure enough as I rounded the corner, there was a motorcycle cop shooting Laser. The K band alert allowed me a few seconds heads up to slow down that I did not have to worry about jamming the gun when the officer tagged me. If I disable K band, I would have been going faster when the officer tagged me. Escort stated that my only option is to disable K band and there was no real solution to the constant/continuous K band alerts...

Im just tired of my radar going off for 5 mins at a time while driving and would really like to find a solution, even if it means getting rid of the 9500ci system and putting radar in with the ALP system.

I also live in the OC/LA area and from what I understand you can turn off K filtering. But I will let the experts share better info. I also had the same false alert problem all the time from cars and from automatic door openers and since turning off my K band I have nothing but legit Ka band hits on LEO with radar gun but almost all now are using Lidar. My daily drive is very peaceful now and I can count on my STir- for real radar Ka band radar protection and ALP for Laser protection.

Turning TSR on should help somewhat, but the 9500ci/STiR+ are behind the curve on K band filtering tech. Also, if you have the antenna integrated with the ALP, there are no GPS lockouts available like on the standalone version, to combat fixed false locations like automatic doors. (EDIT: I stand corrected. Manual lockouts are available in the latest ALP Connect).

From what I've read however, K band isn't used in most parts of CA, so you could probably turn K band off completely and enjoy a nice quiet RD.

If you need K band and better filtering, look at the new Net Radar antenna available for the ALP. It has some of the best BSM filtering out there today.

Take a look at the new Net Radar antenna. That thing is seriously impressive when it comes to K band filtering. It plugs right into your ALP too so it'll integrate well. GPS lockouts will require your phone as opposed to being standalone with the 9500ci, but it'll be better with the K band filtering.

Turning K-band off completely does carry some risk of a Local PD/National Park Police or Military Police (if you go on Military property) still using that radar band. Getting rid of the STi R+ & installing a NET RADAR would get you much better piece of mind & much quieter ride especially.

Net Radar has broken the code on K band falsing. It will still pick some K band falses up if you are very close to a nearby strong source (automatic door openers for instance-easy to lock out), but it has pretty much eliminated BSM falsing, which are the biggest pain.

I have a Bel STiR Plus system in my Audi, and I had to disable X band and K band completely due to other cars' BSM. The STiR goes bonkers around cars with BSM.

Luckily, I live in a part of the country where police only use Ka band.
