View Full Version : hardly get any K or Ka
i just had the full system plus escort 9500 antenna installed. it was checked by the installer to be working, but even in city red this thing hasn't given me one radar beep or warning in 3 days of ownership. my other car has a V1 and it beeps all the time. is the escort that much better at ignoring false alarms than the V1 (other car with blind spot devices, Walgreens doors, etc...)? i have not tried running V1 in the car at the same time because car has IR coating on glass. also- the settings on the ALP module are all default currently.

Try it on highway and see what happens. City modes filter out weaker signals.
tried this too. will try to meet with friend of mine this wknd with radar gun and retest.

Maybe the installer did not activate it. Pull a statistics file and email it to us.

also- on antoehr note. my iphone 6 starts "scanning" once the car is turned off and the device is back inside the house. why doesn't it just disconnect? what is it scanning for anyway?
Because it keeps looking for the BT module to power-up to automatically reconnect to it. The app takes very little battery and if you want it to auto connect just leave the app in the background.
City RED will ignore alerts until the signal strength reaches 5/9, In Yellow its 3/9 and this is set in the settings page: If you want full sensitivity run it in Highway Mode.
You also never ran a factory reset so you need to run the factory reset to memorize your hardware configuration and then re-load your settings file.
so i after i got home and did the factory reset and reloaded the config.alp file (settings file) i found out from my wife that apparently it had begun working normally and was beeping at her all day while she was driving it (apparently alerting her). of course she told me this AFTER i had done the reset and reloaded the settings file. i then went for a drive and it alerted me of some x and k bands in the city setting (but not in all the areas my V1 goes crazy around).
a- why did it spontaneously start to work before i did the reset? *the only thing i had done yesterday was do the control box update- which i did only because the FW version said 0 yesterday.
b- after my drive i also noted that after the initial turn-on cycle (when the my iphone/BT module is not connected is not in the car) with the quick green and red lights, it does the red light and 5 beeps afterward before ending up in a steady blue light. per the manual does that mean that there is something wrong with the control box? system is 7 days old!)- i think maybe it had been doing this form the get go. anyway- i ran the stats file again. please help.

update- when the BT module is connected i don't hear the start up sounds instead the iphone app says "warning gps disconnected" - is that what the main control box is trying to say? in that case i am not so worried.

You do have the GPS enabled in your settings. Do you have the AL GPS Antenna connected?

no i don't have it because this car has the Ir glass laminate from the factory (which is why i bought the escort antenna package- to by pass this problem of reception from within the car). do the rest of the settings look ok? did the reset go ok and does everything else look in order? thank you for your help

Run a factory reset and then create and load a new configuration file with GPS not enabled and try again.
