No doubt on the 401 which is flat and straight in this region of Ontario.

50+ over gets you an immediate one week suspension of your license.

CHATHAM-KENT, Ont. – Provincial police say officers nabbed three motorists on stunt driving charges in separate incidents within minutes in Chatham-Kent, Ont.

Police say that just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday, an officer charged a 41-year-old Conyers, Ga., woman with stunt driving for allegedly travelling at 165 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.

Moments later, OPP say an officer charged a 38-year-old Windsor, Ont., man with driving at 155 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

The third incident occurred just after 9:30 a.m., when another officer charged a 47-year-old Dearborn, Mich., woman for allegedly going 156 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

In each incident, the driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days.

All three are to appear in Chatham, Ont., court next month.

Our speed limits are way too slow. 400 series highways across the province should be 130km/hr. 100 is ridiculous.

I would agree! I had to go out to Toronto for work a few years ago and am glad I rented the Turbo V8 luxury car cause on the 401 and 403 between Niagara I swear traffic flow was 150....Which was awesome! Not sure if thats normal or not.

The Coquihalla in BC was raised to 120 and you can easily find a pack of people doing 140-180 and the odd person doing 200+ which is fantastic except for burning ridiculous amounts of fuel haha...Burned almost 100L of fuel in my truck going about 300KM between Chiliwack and Kelowna one way....Pedal to the metal!

If I become rich enough to leverage buy out a province one day, I would just replace all the public road speed limits with advisory speeds.

This speed limit thing is getting out of control. LEO's these days don't go after predatory driving, road rages, or tailgating, but they clock your speed for donut money. IMHO, all victimless offenses are inherently civil, not criminal, and forcing a citizen to report the speed at which he travels (be it radar reflection, laser reflection, or anything else) is compulsory speech for him to self-incriminate, directly in conflict with the First Amendment of the American Constitution.
