I think what he meant was, is the latest version of the app still compatible with the older BT module?

I would think it is. :)

Can you expand on what the "and more" functionality is on this new module? I'm debating whether or not to purchase it as I already have the v2 Bluetooth module which does the firmware updates as well. You say it supports the control set and the Android app, but does it support both simultaneously? If not does that mean that the wired Control set is only active if there is no connection to the phone?

FFS did anyone test this "new version" on the old bt module??!! I just upgraded and now the app force closes and crashes when trying to connect to the module just before it's supposed to present the keyboard to enter the module PIN. I even uninstalled and wiped the app cache. Reverting....

Thanks!! For this reason I will hold off on updating to the new APP version.

No, I'm on the previous one, FW 5.1.4 I believe. If the latest firmware is needed than it would have been nice for them to mention that in the "What's New" section of the app in the Google Play Store so that people would get a heads up before updating and getting hooped like I did. I will update my firmware this weekend.

You need to update the firmware to 5.2.1 which was released on 12/14.

Thanks for the very helpful reply after the fact. Yes, sarcasm. Maybe tell the developer to make a note of that in the Play Store change log.

We submitted a new version to Google Today V1.7A to correct that issue. In fairness the new BT Modules were not released yet and we were only giving users a heads up that the new app that supports the new BT was already available in the App Store.

I get that but a lot of people have Google Play store setup to auto update apps so they could have gotten into the same situation that I did without knowing what would happen. In any case what other new features will this new Bluetooth dongle give us? I saw the screenshots you provided of the new version show some new features but I don't see any of them active with my version 2 dongle.. Am I right to assume that they will only get those features when I upgrade to the latest bluetooth dongle? Specifically I saw what appeared to be a button on the left side to control the radar modes.

As of now no functionality difference will be noticed but it will support new features which will be rolled out over time. The biggest change is support for the new ALP Firmware and new BT Module with Auto Switching between BT and the wired controller.

What's New
1. Fixed bug preventing connections to old ALPConnect BT Dongle.
2. Fixed OTA updating not checking versions correctly.
3. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

In the iPhone screenshots of the new Bluetooth adapter webpage there looks to be some new features that don't exist on the Android version for example there is a highway icon in the bottom left hand corner of the car and also it is reporting the gun type and the frequency. Are these features coming to the Android version as well?

They are already there if you are using Radar Integration.

What detector are you using.... The Sti-R Plus, 9500CI & V1 will display frequency. None of the 975R's have that capability. If you are using a compatible detector try a different phone maybe your phone does not have enough resolution to display the full screen.

Sti-r, I do get the frequencies in the "recent alarms" screen but not on the main screen "live" with the car animation. I hear the as well, without a frequency announcement.

Try a different phone. Maybe the phone you are using does not have a high enough resolution to display the Full ALP Connect screen. It will display the frequency on the main screen and you will be able to switch the city modes on the main screen. I have been running this a long time.

They dont work together at the same time, It will switch automatically between them depending if you connect via your phone or not.

See photo, this is version 1.7a running on my android head unit

The resolution is 1024x768 and I can tell you it's not a matter of it not fitting on the screen as I've reduced the dpi all the way down to 100 and there's nothing there.

You're right it works on the phone which I'm assuming is because the phone is in portrait mode. That is something I cannot do on the Android head unit as it only works in landscape and you cannot force apps to portrait. Any chance that these guys will develop a tablet / landscape friendly version of the app?

The Android version does have both a landscape and portrait version and it does work on tablets. My guess is this is one of those Chinese imported car pc's and I tested many of them and I could never get any to render correctly.

Would it be possible for you to duplicate the radar control functionality in the third set up tab of the application where the options are? That way we don't have to worry about rendering or having it fit on the screen as It could just be a toggle.

Honestly and dont take this the wrong way but to make a custom app for 1 individual user would not make any sense. You are better off trying to see if the radio manufacture can give you an Android update which emulates a real landscape mode.

I've been down that road with the manufacturer and they really don't care about maintaining their product. If its too much trouble then fine but honestly if you already have the code to switch the radar Mode on the main screen would it be that hard to add it to the third option screen as a toggle? I may not be the only one using an Android head unit as well, given that this is an automotive application.

NONE of these Android Radio's work 100% and that is because they are all using hacked up Android Operating Systems.. I had one that was close but again Zero support from the manufacture:

There was one product that would have worked and I was waiting forever for it and then it was pulled off the market... The Parrot RNB6

That was the one I was going to buy too. Was bummed when it got cancelled. Well, I'll leave it at that. Hopefully you reconsider adding it as a 3 button choice on the third screen, I'd certainly appreciate it.

If you have an old BT module and want to buy a new one you need to call your local distributor and they will be able to discount a new one 15%. Please keep your original BT serial number handy. If you are in the US it will go through ALPRIORITYUSA.COM but because today is a national holiday the office is closed today.

Glad you had a good experience. All you need to do is hit the update button and system will start downloading and system will still operate 100% while downloading so you can drive and do what you need to do during the process and it will just reboot when completed.

Yes, If you dont have them turned off otherwise it will just blink. A short press of the power button toggles the parking alerts on and off.

I am not sure if this post goes here or not, but it's related to the new V2 Bluetooth. Prior to having purchased the Bluetooth, I have ran the Hi Fi setup, and this question pertains to the LED on the Hi Fi device. Previously, before the installing the Bluetooth, my setup for my LEDs were Dark and Constant. This allowed my external LED on my dash display to be dark unless there was an alert, while the Hi Fi controller LED's stayed illuminated. After installing the the Bluetooth, and when the Bluetooth is not connected, I cannot get the LED on the Hi Fi to stay illuminated for more than 10 seconds. It will boot up and all is well, then the both the LED's, the external and the controller will go out after 10 seconds. Is this a normal operation, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Fireman603
