Hello Everyone
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
I currently have 3 cars with Radar/Laser protection systems:
1- 2013 Porsche 911 4S with Bell StiR Plus and Escort Laser shifterPro (2 Front + 2 rear) installed Fall 2014
2- 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 with Bell StiR Plus and Escort Laser shifterPro (2 Front + 2 rear) installed Fall 2014
3- 2016 Porsche GT4 with Bell StiR Plus and Al Priority (2 Front + 2 rear)... Just installed yesterday.
I had good results with Escort ShifterPro as in our area cops are not using the latest laser guns, but it is a matter of time before this happens, so I decieded to use Al Priority with all the great reviews I have been reading.
All 3 systems were installed by Musicar in Portland Oregon. They really were not too keen about me switching to the Al Priority for this recent installation on the GT4, siting the difficulty of integrating the Bell Sti-R radar to Al priority, which they ended up using 2 separate control modules but did a great job placing them in the car ashtray. I will post some pictures of the latest installation in case anyone is interested in seeing it. However in my opinion the main reason for them resisting me switching to Al Prioity is that they are not getting special dealer pricing like they do with Escort, and won't be able to make much profit margins on the Al Prioirty unit. Not sure what is the arrangement with Al Prioirty and the dealers, but I think if they provide good OEM pricing to the dealers and installers, most will push them instead of the aging Escort. Said that If anyone is in the PORTLAND Area looking for a good proffisional installer, Musicar is highly recommended, and is regarded as one of the top installer in the nation. Just make sure they don't try to push the Escort ProShifter on you like they did with me.
Since I am new to Al Priority, it would be great if someone can point me to the right place where and how I load and adjust my configuration using a USB stick and thank you in advance for the help. The second question I have is regarding the time the shifters activate after they are targeted. I read before the shifter stay on for 4 seconds then turn off. Can that time be adjusted and how. Musicar mentioned they used the minimum time for the shifters to reset, and they indicated they set the value to 3. I am assuming they meant the 3 is in minutes and that's how to long the shifters will take to rearm again, not really sure. This is all new to me, as the Escort ShifterPro required no tweeting and they basically stayed on all the time, or until I physically power them off through a botton Musicar installed for me, so I have the option to turn them off at my leisure, at anytime, otherwise they stayed on and armed all the time. I suspect the Al Prioirty is a little different and would require that I specify the time they stay on after being triggered and the time for them to rearm again. Just a little unclear about that, and any help on this will be greatly appreciated. Again thank you for any assistance from you in advance and look forward to participate and contribute to this forum. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Mark
