I'm having experiencing two rather annoying problems with the FW 2.0 revision of the Bluetooth Module with ALP Connect on Android. I ordered the newer module as the original one I bought earlier this year did not support the OTA upgrade feature. I have since reverted back to the original module until these errors are fixed in a future firmware update.

1) 50% of the time when I launch the ALP Connect app, it erroneously reports that firmware 4.5.1 or higher is required when trying to connect to the module. As such, the app refuses to connect to the dongle. My control box is at firmware 5.1.3. Usually shutting the car off and back on a few times will correct this.

2) Randomly while driving ALP Connect will give an audio alert stating "Error code 4, control box malfunction, please contact support"
This alert will continue to play every few seconds and will not stop until the app is closed or the module disconnected from the app. Similarly to the first error above, power cycling the ignition on the car gets it to work again.

Neither of these problems occur using the original (older) Bluetooth module. Hopefully these errors will be corrected in a future update.

yep we get that here in OZ with the bt module, also it just dis connects and there is no gps being displayed and the car just turns to white, so our OZ supplier has had the same problem with a lot of customers, so hes sending a full batch back, so i to are back on the old one NP

My BT 2.0 worked fine until my phone updated to Lollipop, Are you both using Android 5.x Lollipop? Pretty sure this issue can not be solved with ALP firmware since the BT 2.0 chips operate at higher speeds so its a BT issue between the phone and the BT module. We still have a few BT modules available if you want to send it back and try another one? Some have had better experience with a replacement.

No, I am on KitKat 4.4.2

Then send your module back and lets swap it for another one. I have a BT 2.0 running perfect now with a Backup phone with KitKat with no issues.

I bought it through AntiLaser Canada, I'd have to arrange it with them, wouldn't I?

Yes, Sorry... I should have asked where you were located.

I've got the same issue that the Android app keeps asking me to upgrade firmware to 4.5.1 or higher. I'm running 5.1.3. I tried turning the unit on / off several times but that didn't work. Any solutions other than returning the B/T module?

Try rebooting the phone. If you have another phone try that as well to help pinpoint the issue.

I couldn't find a fix. I'm awaiting my warranty replacement to be shipped.
Most likely a bad batch of these units.
