View Full Version : I am retiring from the hobby

I have been involved in this hobby for over five years. Through this hobby, I have meet many great people that I now consider close friends. I have enjoyed my time in the hobby, here on RALF as well as time on other forums.

When I was in school, I looked forward to life in the real world as felt that I would have more free time. The reality is that I spend more time working each day and week then I did in school. Being married and having wonderful children that I enjoy spending my time with is a blessing. Here, I thought as my children grew older I would have more free time. As it turns out, the older they have gotten, they need my time even more. Gone are the days where they would nap for hours (I would go to the gym then), and gone are the days of early bed times. The weekends, I generally leave the house at 9AM with one or more of my kids and don't get home until dinner time on a short day. I wouldn't change my life or the decisions I have made. I am a fortunate man.

I find at this time that I do not have the time needed to devote to this hobby and be a leader and organizer for the community.

This is not goodbye, as I will occasionally stop by.

As I have always said, "Today's noob can become tomorrow's expert." I look to the newer members of the community to take the time to read, think and learn more about the hobby and technologies to become tomorrow's expert.

I would like to thank all the members of the community especially those who I have met in person, those who I have become friends with and those who have advanced the hobby and community. There are many members and leaders of the community that have come and gone. We must all acknowledge and remember that the good of the hobby and community is far more important than any member, leader or group.

Thank you,
YC

That really sums it up and could not be more from the Truth. I find myself in the same situations where I have no spare time and I fully understand your feelings. I miss when my kids were little and now me and my wife we are running non stop from one thing to the next. Between who is driving one to Gymnastics, another one to Football or another one to Baseball or any of the other activities the kids are involved with we seem to be going non stop until 10PM in the evenings.

Your investment in the hobby will not go unnoticed as you have helped each of the Jammer companies in one way or another and the public is better protected because of your involvement. Good luck with your future and if you need me for anything just give me a call.

Where do I begin...
You've come a long way young man since those early days when someone opened the door for you as a noob & entry into that Private, very knowledgeable group back in the day on RD.net, which then begat what the whole thriving, still growing CM community has become today. You were instrumental in the founding of TWO important Testing Groups that continue on to help expand the technical challenges Motorists are up against in their daily efforts to make a living Worldwide in many Countries.

Thank you for the, time, expense & dedication you've given to us over the years. Do return when life slows down, the door will always be open HERE !
On behalf of the Community- THANK YOU so much & we'll miss you till then. :encouragement:

p.s.-
Would you send me the Crown of Thorns you no longer should wear from that "other" Forum, I believe your departure advances me to the Throne now as #1. :glee:

Hey Yellowcab

I will never forget you. You were there at the Atlanta meet which was my first. You were the second person to shoot me with LiDAR. The first being in Gwinett county on my way in - hah. I am happy I got to meet you. Thank you for answering my questions and all the information you have provided.

All the best.

Never met you YC but as a member here it is obvious that you were an enormous contributor. The CM community owes you a debt. Hope you return one day.

You're not really retiring, you're on a hiatus, a "Summer of George" so that you can decompress!
