View Full Version : Are there many false alarams with ALP and Stinger VIP?
Hello again guys,
My cousin who recently got a system installed in his car tells me he gets a lot of false alrams. Now he is not sure of the set up in his car. A freelance guy comes home and does the install (I have seen his name on a website), but all he knows is he has a Bel system.
He said he paid $4500 for it so I was thinking may be its the Stingetr and ALP combo and hence wanted to know are there any false alarms with the VIP and ALP combo?
According to him it gets very annoying at times when you are close to the garage door etc, the alarm keeps going off!!
Your comments please gentlemen.
Para.

You cannot expect any knowledgeable or useful help when you have not given us any specifics as to what equipment is used in this situation. Are the so-called false alarms radar or laser based ???

The Bel & the VIP both are noisy for a little while once it learns the falses and GPS locks them, its normal.
On the roads I travel frequently now, it quite until a real threat
But if I go onto a road I have never been on it will be noisy again until it learns the falses.
Also if he has disabled any Autolock in both systems it will do the same.
I can also honestly say that I have not had 1 false with the ALP (laser)

the vip is better on false alarms, but as RR said they can come from any where, cars shops filling station etc, but the Stinger is the most silent one ur friend has not got his set up correctly, the other detecters catch quite a bit more chatter, but u have to give em time to auto lock out
what is ur friend running, need more info
